The team made their way out of the drop zone, and Johnson made his way to the abandoned fire watch tower and set up his rifle. "Unit, on me." Tom called through the coms.
The team closed in on Tom as he pointed to the East. "Make tracks PANZER."
He readied his gun and kept it leveled with his face as they proceeded through the thick brush of the Amazonian rain forests.
"Anyone else concerned a the large lack of animals here?" Ella pointed out.
"Yeah. It is strange." Alex agreed.
"Keep focused on the mission. We're PANZER, not PETA."
The team continued through plants, trees, and old ruins of villages until they found their target location.
"Hold up. Team, do you have eyes on?"
"Copy that sir. We see the village. Anyone got eyes on the package or on any tangos?" Alex answered
"Negative to both Alex. Everyone, take a building and wait for my mark to breach." Tom instructed.
"Copy." The unit responded.
Each member of the team took up a position near the small huts in the center of the clearing.
"Flash bangs ready. Remember, we need them alive. They are no use to us dead."
The team all prepared a flash bang and their counter on their HUD removed 1 from their inventory.
"Chuck 'em!"
They all threw their flash bangs through the broken windows and waited for the flash.
The world slowed as Tom's heart raced. he has practiced this maneuver more times than he could remember, yet something felt different.
As soon as the team saw the flash go off, they breached the doors.
"Breaching!" Tom called out
The heavy armor of Tom's shoulder plate smashed into the wooden door as the weight of his body followed through, completely removing the door from its hinges. He swung his heavy gun up before himself and pressed it into his shoulder as his eyes scanned the room.
A feeling of relief and concern both rushed through his body.
"What the hell? Building clear. I repeat, there is nothing here. Anyone got anything?" Tom questioned over the radio.
"Negative." Alex replied
"Nothing here Tom." Ella called out.
"Place is deserted Hanson." Benson chimed in.
"Damn. Everyone regroup at the fountain." Tom commanded.
The unit met up at the fountain, each one confused about their situation. "This place is a fuckin' ghost town." Benson complained.
Tom disregarded his comment and turned his radio onto the command station. "HQ, something you wanna tell us? This town in emptier than a spent shell."
"Copy that 2-1. Standby for traffic." The radio Crackled.
"Yeah, yeah. Just hurry with it. This is a fucking sniper's paradise."
"Alright, UAV recon just picked up on thermal that the hostages and Heeresgruppen have been moved to a near by compound. They look to be about 15 + strong. Recommend you use alternate LZ for your extract."
"Wilco. Johnson, tell the chopper we are using LZ Lima. Everyone else, check your HUDs. They've been updated on the location and all info on the targets."
"Chopper's been notified and has our IR strobes for exact location." Johnson called out.
"Copy that J. Alright guys, we're hoofing it the rest of the way."
Tom swung his arm out and pointed in the direction of their new objective.
"Move it!"
