The electricity flickers back on and I scramble over to my laptop. I needed to contact wattpad or TAP! help now. Switching on my laptop, I open up wattpad help once again when I'm connected to the internet again.
But before I can type anything, I get redirected to another page. Confused, I wait. I'm taken to the TAP! by Wattpad home page and what loads up chills me to my bones.
Oh no... I quickly close the tab and grab my phone, attempting to open my phonebook but no matter how hard I pressed my home button or lock button, my phone wasn't responding. Accidentally, my thumb lands on the screen and a message pops up on the conversation. I started to feel suffocated and creeped out.
Not reading the message, I put my phone down and walk over to my window, trying to see if there was anyone down there or anywhere close by. Have I been hacked? That seemed to be the case. Breathing slowly, I attempted to calm myself before I headed to my door. However, before I reached it, there was a sort of click and I frown in horror as I notice that somehow, my doorknob was twisted around. The lock that was meant to be inside the room was outside... which meant...
I'm locked in my room...
Frantic, I grab my door handle and desperately try to twist it open.
"Please! Please let me out! Somebody!" I found myself shouting as tears began to prick my eyes. I couldn't exactly just jump out of the window either – I lived on the second floor. My parents weren't home either – but my brother was! "Allen! Allen!" I yell as hard as I can.
"What?!" His yell seems like a blessing despite how annoyed he sounded and I feel relief wash over me.
"Help! Help me! I'm locked in my room!"
"Very funny, Ally." What?! No?!!
"I'm not joking!"
"I've fallen for enough of your pranks, Ally. You have a round door knob!" The fact that he wasn't coming to help caused my chest to tighten. "I'm heading out to Jake's."
"What?! No, you can't go! Please don't leave me here, please!" I hoped he could hear the desperation in my voice as I burst into tears. "I think I'm being hacked and stalked! Please!"
There's no response from his end. Only silence until the door slams shut from downstairs. It dawns on me. He didn't even hear the rest of my last sentence, my voice wouldn't have travelled that far. Well, great. Before I can turn back, the sound of glass shattering loudly alerts me. It came from my window and I fall into panic. Someone broke in.
Someone's in my room right now.
They're going to hurt me.
Someone broke in.
Someone's in my room right now...
I turn around as slowly as I can and I'm confused when I see my window completely intact. I'm alone in my room. However, I do notice my wine glass collection which I kept near my window shattered on the floor. It was my coming off-age gift from my parents and all of them were on the floor – broken into pieces now. Did I have some sort of animal in my room...?
What knocked my glass collection over...
I walk over to my window and notice that my phone is now on the windowsill and not my bed. How did that get there?!
Hesitantly, I pick it up and tap.
"What do you want from me?!" I blurt out.
