The door closed behind us and we were alone in this very intimate space.

‘Over here, darling,’ Tom said excitedly as he took my hand and led me to the far side of the glass cabin, ‘This is the best place to stand. You can see so much from here.’

There he went again, called me darling. I felt myself blush as he said it, and I felt that blush deepen when he took hold of my hand. I wondered if he realised how he was making me feel and the effect he was having on me.

‘The city looks so beautiful when it’s lit up like this at night,’ I said once I had the chance to calm myself and steady my heart rate and flushing face.

‘It truly does,’ Tom agreed, ‘Almost as beautiful as you look this evening.’

I could feel him smiling down at me. Damn him and his words, I had just got my blush under control from the last comment!

He obviously sensed my embarrassment because he quickly added, ‘I do hope I’m not making you feel uncomfortable.’

I composed myself and shook my head, ‘No, no, I don’t feel uncomfortable. It’s just... I’m not used to those kinds of comments.’

Tom looked down at me again, but this time with a rather confused look on his face.

I continue, ‘I mean... Nobody really tells me thing like that... About being beautiful.’

Before I have the chance to look back up into those gorgeous blue eyes I feel his hand raising my chin so that my eyes meet his gaze.

‘Charlotte, you should be told how beautiful you are everyday because it is the truth. And if people are not saying such things to your face then I can promise you that they are most definitely thinking it.’

My heart was pounding so hard in my chest I’m surprised he couldn’t hear it. Never in my life had I met somebody with such a way with words that they could make you feel like the most special person in the whole world.

‘Now,’ he said, breaking our gaze and turning to look out of the window, ‘there are the Houses of Parliament, and over in that direction is Buckingham Palace.’

I feel him place his arm around my back, holding me at the shoulders, pulling me in to him slightly. I let my body lean in to him. His scent was incredible. I allowed my head to rest against him also. He was obviously using this ‘arm around the shoulder’ as a bit of a test to see how I would react, because when he noticed that I was comfortable with it I felt his hand move down lower to grip me at my waist. My heart was beating faster again.

‘Are you having a nice evening?’ asked Tom after a few moments of silence, as we were nearing the end of our trip around the Eye.

‘I’m having a wonderful time, Tom,’ I reply, ‘I’m quite sad that it has to end.’
