The next few days after that were so relaxing and mainly involved sorting our new purchases into their new places. The canvas in the bedroom was hung, all of the new dinnerware was washed and placed in the cabinets and I made Tom our first cake for our cake stand – a chocolate cake, at his request.

Everything was going perfectly, but I knew eventually this little world we had, staying in the apartment together doing nothing but eat, move furniture around and watch movies, would have to come to an end as Tom would have to go back to work with auditions, TV work and filming.

When that time arrived, luckily, Tom was only heading a little further into the city for an audition.

“I feel so fat. It must be all that cake. Maybe the cake stand and the baking rule wasn’t such a good idea after all,” he joked, “or maybe you should just make cakes I don’t like.”

As he leaned against the kitchen counter he eyed up the last slice of chocolate cake.

“OK, so what cakes don’t you like then?” I asked.

“Oh damn, there isn’t any I don’t like.”

“Right, so...” I picked up the chalk next to the chalkboard in the kitchen and spoke out loud as I wrote, “No more cakes!”

“Very funny, now take that off. I like cake too much to sacrifice it.”

“Maybe I just need to make smaller ones. Or you just need a little more self control and don’t cut a slice every time you walk by.”

“Fine,” he laughed, “Anyway darling, I better go or I’ll be late. I hopefully won’t be too long. What are you doing today?”

I shrugged as Tom put his jacket on and picked up his bag with the script in.

“Well I won’t be making cake that’s for sure,” I smiled.

“What? Not even a celebration cake for if I get the part?” he tried to act shocked, but couldn’t hide that beaming smile.

“We’ll see,” I giggled, “Actually I thought I might give my Aunt a call, see how she’s doing and maybe arrange a visit. Then I might have a look online to see if there’s any dance studios I can call about a job.”

“You know you don’t need to get a job right now.”

“I know, you keep saying, but I want to. I was also thinking of making a trip into town for a couple of things.”

I’d been thinking about making that evening special for Tom, after everything he’d done that week with helping me to move in, buying so many new things for the apartment and just being great in general. So I had decided that at some point I would venture out to some shops and get myself some pretty new lingerie, cook some dinner, light some candles and make sure he had a lovely night. Especially because if he did get this job he would be filming away from home most likely, so it would be nice to make the most of the time I had with him.
