Chapter 17

~Skylar's P.O.V~
'Ppsssstt' 'skylarrrr we're here' 'wake upp'
I was gently shaken awake by Rye as we arrived at the beach. It was a nice day and it was just perfect for the boys to record their cover. I haven't been on Twitter since Rye and I made us official and I've been putting it off for a while. I know I'm strong in the sense that they're all just fangirls that are 'jealous' and whatnot but I still know that reading the comments could hurt my feelings.
We all piled out of the car and I grabbed Ryes hand as we walked towards a spot on the beach that Blair had picked to film the cover. Andy was leading the way while yapping away to Mikey who was being pestered by Brooklyn who was being yelled at by Jack. Blair just stood there with an exasperated look on his face and all I could do was giggle at the scene in front of me. Rye looked down on me. A big smile on his face as he too laughed at his crazy friends. I'm really glad he found them and I have these people to thank for making him happy while I couldn't, while I was in a different country dealing with my estranged mother. I've been back a while now and I've never been happier in my life. I visit the boys flat at least once a day. Their flat is my second home and every minute I spend hanging out with them, I begin to forget about my worries and my insecurities because they make me feel so welcomed and Rye makes me feel so perfect. Like genuinly perfect and I've never been so happy with myself. That's why I don't want to read what the people have been saying because I can't risk having all this progress be undone by a few meaningless haters.
I found a nice spot on the sand to lay on whilst the boys did their thing. I watched from behind the camera as they goofed around, eventually getting it right after like 900 takes. Everytime Rye would catch my eye he'd wink at me, making heat rush to my cheeks. I decided to lay back and try catch a bit of sun but my wishes were short lived as I felt someone grab my hand and drag me up. Rye pulled me to the ground and took off running along the beach, weaving in and out between the people and I struggled to catch up. It felt like everything else faded away and it was just us at this point and I didn't even car about how cheesy that sounds. Our laughter was the only thing I heard. I laughed so hard my stomach started to hurt and I didn't even know why we were running which made me laugh even more. He stopped suddenly I front of a little jewellery stall on the edge of the beach. He caught me looking at one of the necklaces on display. It was a crown with a little jewel on the inside and the minute I saw it I fell in love with it. I ran my fingers over the crown, it reminded me of one that I had when I was a little girl. My dad gave it to me for my tenth birthday but it got lost years later as my parents ended up dividing up everything they owned and leaving me without my favourite necklace and with only a broken heart in return.
'Can you do me a favour?' Rye asked breaking me out of my trance.

~Ryes P.O.V.~
'Can you run back and ask the guys if they want ice cream?' I asked skylar. She answered with a simple 'sure' before pecking me on the check and setting off back down the beach. Truth be told, I couldn't care less if the boys wanted ice cream or not but I needed an excuse for her to leave so I could buy her the necklace she was admiring. I saw the way she was looking at it and I couldn't wait to see her face when I give it to her. I made sure she was out of sight before handing the money over and receiving a little purple box in return. I stuffed it into my pocket before heading over to the ice cream van to make my story more believable. As I stood in que I heard a loud screechy voice. A voice that I knew all too well...
'RYE PIE OMG IS THAT YOU' even just hearing her voice gave me a headache. I turned around and my fears were confirmed as I came face to face with Talya..my not so wonderful ex girlfriend..
I met her about a month after Skylar left and our relationship merely lasted a week before I caught her cheating on me. To be honest I wasn't too upset, I never properly liked her but I was so desperate to try get my feeling for Skylar out of my mind so I jumped at the thought of a relationship. But she jumped at the thought of popularity. She saw the potential the band had to be popular and she used me, but obviously she got bored after a few days and moved on to someone new.
I was about to say something but I got cut off. Not by her voice but by her lips. I stumbled backwards but I couldn't get away from her. She had her hands around my neck with her nails digging into my skin. I heard the murmur of voices surrounding me and I saw camera flashes. I forced myself off of her to see a group of teenage girls surrounding us. Many of them wearing 'Roadtrip' merchandise and it was at that moment that I knew things were fucked up, but one face in the crowd made me heart completely shatter. Everything went blurry as I saw her face. Tears falling down her checks. I tried to call out to her and I tried to run after her but there was so many people. I finally broke away from everyone and I ran. I need to explain to her. I need to explain to Skylar and tell her that she's the one I love and the I didn't mean to kiss Talya but she was gone. I didnt even know what direction she ran in but I can only hope one of the boys went after her because I need her to be safe. Even if she hates me and wants nothing more to do with me, I love her...

Well.. There it is. It only took about 9 years to get another chapter up but bear with me 😂❤️
