Natalie's P.O.V.
"Congrats on making the team," said a brunette wearing a cheerleading uniform as I entered the Athletics/Cheer locker room. I nodded in her direction and then made a beeline for Coach's office.
"I'm sorry, maybe next year," I heard Coach turn down some sobbing girl as I rounded a pillar and stepped on the Italian carpet that lined the office. "Sorry for the wait ladies, c'mon in to pick up your team attire!" she gestured to the many of us that were standing in front of the door, carrying our binders and knapsacks, shaking while nervously waiting for coach. "When I call your name, please come get your personalized duffel and team uniform. If you purchased anything else, it will be in that duffel," said Coach. "First I'll start with our Team A Captain this year, Jess!" Jess walked out of the clump of girls waiting on the side and to Coach, where she claimed her duffel and also took hold of her extra attire that Jess's mom, Willow, had bought for her.
"The logo for the Lady Vikings this year looks a lot better than it did last year!" Jess whisper exclaimed as Coach called for Riley Last and Hannah St. Peters, two of the new girls on the team. I smiled and nodded my head in absolute agreement. I listened as Coach sent Hannah over to our assistant coach, Coach Fields, to get her extra stuff.
"Kathryn Jones and Natalie Portman!" called Coach from behind a big brown box. I made eye contact with Kathryn, a short girl with long, lanky arms, as we stepped up to the desk.
"You bought the uniform and duffel, as well as the custom-made Adidas volleyball shoes and the Lady Vikings warm up suit and game day attire," read Coach off of a sheet of laminated paper. I nodded and walked over to Coach Fields to get my things. "Gigi Jackson and Melissa Rhodes!" called Coach as I made my way back to Jess.
"The warm-ups are definitely an improvement to the ugly neon stuff from last season," said Jess, holding it up to the dim wall light on Coach's wall to seize it. Jess rubbed her moisturized palms over the material as she admired it.
"Yeah, I agree," I said, pulling off my plain sweatshirt and pulling the hoodie over my head.
"Why'd your mom get you so much?" questioned my jealous friend. I shrugged. I honestly didn't know why my mom always wanted me to have all of the stuff possible.
"You ask her," I teased, pulling the uniform out of the bag to get a glimpse of it. I gasped as I saw what the uniforms lokked like this year. In previous years, with coaches that only cared about the apperance of the team, the girls had been out on the court in tiny spandex and flimsy tops, and now this year, our attire was jet black spandex and a red shirt with the words, Lady Vikings, in big black letters and our number and name on the back.
"Okay girls, file out," said Coach in an authoritative position. We all grabbed our newly acquired things and headed out of the locker room. "Practice starts at seven thirty am tomorrow, so be there or be square. Durning practice I'll assign lockers and give a schedule. And just remember, if you are on this team, you are expected to make volleyball your life. On Friday we have our first scrimmage, against the Taylor High School Riders, so we'll wear our things then,"
This was a great start to an even greater year!

Cade's P.O.V.
"Guess what guess what?" asked a girly voice as my eyes were covered with flowery smelling hands.
"Chicken butt," I said, smirking.
"No silly," the hands were removed and I turned to face Natalie, holding a duffel stuffed with things that said 'Lady Vikings' in big letters. "I made the team!" She jumped up and down and then threw her bag to the floor. I looked at the bag quickly before I felt hands on my face and lips on mine.
"Ooh!" I heard catcalls and whistles from the football jocks and Natalie and myself continued kissing. As she pulled away, she wrapped her arms around me and hugged me tightly.
"Congrats," I managed to choke out from shock. I took her hand in mine and wrapped my fingers around hers to show possessiveness.
"Thank ya," she said, pecking me in the nose.
"As much as I want to puke up my breakfast, we need to get to class, and I'm talking to you too Mr. Matthews," said Jess in a strict tone. I looked at Natalie and we both ended up laughing as Jess huffed and stalked off.
"Finally some alone time," I said, scanning the hallways for any familiar faces. I leaned in to Natalie and almost locked lips with the feisty blonde before she put her hand on my chest and pushed me away.
"Nuh unh," she tsked, wrapping her hand in mine once more. "I can't kiss in the halls," she said, "volleyball rules,"
I made a glaring face and then pecked her on the cheek as she shrieked and took off towards class.
