Jace POV
I come into a class a bit later than she does, but it's a daily occurrence. She always gets into school so early- God knows what for, but if it makes her happy, fine by me.
I remember when I used to give her a hug every morning when I came in, just to make sure she had a smile on her face. I don't anymore now- I don't know why. We're still friends, but things like that just sort of... stopped.
She gives me a smile nevertheless as I walk in, glancing my direction with a grin, before returning to the work she's doing. I smile back, but a little too late for her to pick up on as she's back to scribbling rapidly on a coursework sheet in a moment's breath. Her dirty blonde hair falls over her eyes, concealing her, and she taps her foot aimlessly to the music playing through her headphones. I'm so used to seeing this. She looks busy, so I leave her be.
Later that day, she walks home with me and Jack, and we laugh until we head our separate ways. She laughs and laugh and laughs, hair blowing in the wind, eyes sparkling and playfully hitting my arm when I make a joke. I wonder how she does it.
She's happy.
