SHILO'S POV
A little ways through the night I noticed Sage had disappeared. I was about to go on a hunt for my best friend when I saw her rummaging through the cooler in the kitchen. Heading over, I smacked her on the ass before leaning over and asking what she was looking for."A little somethin' stronger. The more percentage the most funnn, Shilooo!"
"What's up with you?" I ask, my eyebrows drawing together.
She laughs and shakes her head before showing me her hand, "Mr. Oliver Barnet did this to meh."I knew she hurt herself but I never knew how deep a few of those cuts were, nor that Oliver had caused them.
"What do you mean, babe?"
"We had an argument and then I slammed my beer and BOOM I cut my- no Oliver cut my hand, that's right."She had found the Vodka and was now drinking straight from the bottle. That made me want to hurl. I don't know how she did straight vodka without passing out.
"There's so many things you don't know about me, deary!" She laughed and then skipped away, perfectly balanced even in her six inch heels.
My next target was Oliver. I don't know if I could trust Sage's mind but something definitely happened.
~~~
I found him lounging in the living room with a beer in one hand and two diva popular girls leaning into him on either side. I stomped up to him and shoved one of the girls out of the way, much to her displeasure. I leaned over to the other girl over Oliver, narrowing my eyes.
"Scram, if you know what's good for you."
She must have been new or something, because she rose and quickly headed over to the dance floor.
"To what do I owe this pleasure?" Oliver smirked at me.
"What happened with Sage?"
His eyes widened and he sat up, close enough to whisper to me, "Is she okay? Her hand is wrapped up."
I stare at him for a second before smacking him upside the head, "Ow!"
"You're stupid."I stand up and start to walk away, shaking my head when someone grabs my arm and pulls me to a stop. I turn and see it's Oliver.
"Seriously, what happened?" He asks.
"When you two fought, she slammed a glass bottle and cut herself." I raise an eyebrow.He looks down at his feet and I scoff.
"You know everyone seems to love you, and yet you always cause so much shit. Sage is such a great girl who's been hurt a lot and you're only adding onto the pile. Be nice, Oliver, or you might break her permanently." I spin on my heel and trudge over to find my friend.
I find her sitting with the vodka bottle, now empty, serving as her head rest outside as she lays in the grass. The gauze on her hand that was once falling off is now completely gone. Her eyes are closed, but I can tell she's still awake.
"Let's get you home. You're mom will be worried." I put one of her arms over my shoulders and haul her onto her feet.
"I miss my mum." She says to me, sadness dripping from her eyes.
"We'll find her, together."She smiles as we head out to the curb while I call a cab for our ride home.
SAGE'S POV
The sun streams through my window reflecting off my mirror and into my face. I groan and flip over, covering my eyes with my arm.It's obvious I fell right into bed last night, as I'm still in my clothes. I can even see some of my makeup rubbed off onto my pillowcase.
I get up and trudge over to my door, checking the time before heading in the direction of the bathroom. I start the shower and clean my face, my hair and my body. I'm sure I use all of the hot water before I even consider coming out.
My stomach growls right as I finish putting on an old tank top and some ripped jeans.
"Good morning, Sage." My mum smiles as she pulls what smells like banana muffins out of the oven.
"Morning, Mum. How was your night?" I pour a glass of orange juice and sit down at the small table in the corner.I must jump about 5 feet in the air when I notice Shilo and none other than Oliver Barnett currently sitting beside and across from me.
"It was so peaceful, thank you dear."
"What are you doing here?" I stare at Oliver Barnett's face from across the table.His hair is messed up from a probably rowdy night and his eyes are dull from his probable hangover.
"I came with Shilo this morning. Your mom let me in." He runs a hand over his jaw and smiles slightly, "She's a great person."
"I know."
"How are you not hung over?" Sage's eyes are wide as she scans my face, "I saw you drink an entire bottle of straight vodka!"
"Excuse me?!" My mum whips her head back around towards us from in front of the oven.
"Ow!" Shilo yelps as I kick her in the shin.
"Nice, Shilo!" I laugh, "You're pretty funny for being hung over after all you drank last night."My mum visibly sighs, returning to her freshly baked muffins cooling on a rack beside her.
I glare at Shilo for a few seconds before turning back to an awkward Oliver Barnett.
"I still don't know why you're here." I fold my arms across my chest.
"He came to apologize!" Shilo interrupts quickly.
"I didn't ask you." I don't even look at her.My drinking is none of my mother's business. She has enough to worry about as it is. Shilo had no right to blurt what I prefer to get wasted with, nor how much I drank in the first place.
"I did come to apologize, actually." Oliver Barnett looks nervous for once.
"Mum, could you leave us for a minute, please? I'd like to offer our guests some refreshments." I look down at the small table where we sit.
"Of course, dear. These muffins should be cool soon!" She smiles and heads off to her room down the hall, shutting the door behind her.I look up at my friend and my enemy, waiting for them to continue.
Oliver gets the hint, "I came to apologize for hurting your hand. I know I didn't actually harm you, but I still caused it. I know being the new girl isn't easy and I didn't make it any easier. I'm sorry and was wondering if we could just start over."
I look down at my hand, still wrapped in gauze with medical tape holding it all together. There really was no reason why we couldn't start over. An apology was really all I had wanted from the beginning, after all.
"I guess I could try to survive with you around. But if you annoy me, I'll punch you."
"Deal."Please comment and vote if you enjoyed this chapter!
