It was finally Friday evening. A day after the whole ordeal with Oliver Barnett at the bar. I had been waiting for the day to end since my eyes opened this morning. I wanted a peaceful Friday, yet every time Oliver Barnett even caught a glimpse of me, he'd glare at me and scowl. Although just one day had passed, I was already getting sick of this treatment. I think he forgot that I still held something that could mess up his life, and in a mad enough mood I wouldn't hesitate to set it free.
Most people wouldn't understand the importance of one missed pass. But in a small town like the one we now live in, news of failures spread faster than fire through a barn filled with dry hay. We also don't have much to report so a really gifted football player is all we hear about.
As soon as I got home from the longest Friday of my entire life, I drop my bag right beside the front door and head straight for the fridge, grabbing a beer before flopping down on the couch. Drinking limits are the last thing on my mind right now.
Mum is already sleeping. She's been working non stop since we moved here. The place she works at is a small yet popular bakery on the edge of town. She loves the work but I know she's worn out, no matter how hard she tries to hide it.
My phone vibrates from the kitchen counter, but I'm too tired to get it.
It vibrates again and I let out a groan before slowly heading to the kitchen to grab it.
Oliver: Have u yapped bout yesterday to any1 or wat
Oliver: Answer me else I'll spread fun rumours bout u
Sage: Chill man I have a life.Even though I barely know him I'm sure this impatience is not only reserved for me.
Oliver: U have a life? I dnt believe tht
Sage: So maybe I was just sitting on the couch. Why do you care what I do on a Friday night?
Oliver: If u blurt bout my bad pass I care
Sage: Are you sure you aren't more emotionally invested? You seem close to creepy now, what with contacting me two nights in a row.It seems I've hit a nerve because he takes more than a few minutes to reply to me.
Oliver: U better watch the attitude. I'm not kidding about ruining u
Sage: You know I've had such a bad day that I don't want to deal with this shit. I have no patience for asses like you. If you want to spill about me, knock yourself out.I turn off my phone, throw it down onto the couch, chug the rest of my beer and head off to bed.
