Chapter 19

I got up ready for the day ,I was really exited .

I went to the cafeteria on six in the morning had my breakfast,and went to the stables ,only the top years are here ,there getting ready for the show that is before lunch ,the teacher picks are after lunch ,it is jumping is the first event im doing with Lora ,and western is last .

I went over to ravens stall ,and groomed her I pulled her mane just to neaten it up a bit ,I got out the western saddle and cleaned it then her bridal ,and got the Neck rope ready ,I herd ,bill go into his office so I thought I might pop in ,I nock and he says to come in
" um ,hi I was just finishing with raven and thought I might come see if you need any help with any horses "
He looked up and lought ,not loudly just lought
" I'm not sure I get what you Lough at "
" well joe this ja a school with groomed and you want to help ,not only that but on the end of term ,day when you have two up goings ,you really are a independent individual "
I smile
" well I could need some help with the top years there horses still near grooming and tack needs cleaning "
I agreed to help with the top years ,bill brought me to the other end of the barn where people were running around ,there were mostly western student but a couple of N.H.M.S they were doing a bit together so they trained a lot together ,he clapped his hands together ,to get everyone's attention
"I know you are all exited and rushed over the show so I have gotten some help from a dear friend ,may I introduce joe ,she is one of the best first year western riders "
That all said hello
" ok so if you don't mind go help where you can "
" ok"
I went of grooming saddling horse and cleaning and helping out where I could .

There was nothing for me to help with so I went to my dorm Emma was going over her dressage routine,we talked then I got a quick shower ,after a while me Emma ash may and Kat all went down to the arena ,the show was good actually amazing, the girls were like boy fancied every boy all the different showers were amazing the western N.H.M.S was the best of all personally .

At lunch was another picnic ,I finished early to I could groom raven and make sure she is ready as I finish Lora walks in with a new set of girls ,she looked at me then made a discussed face then looked away her horse was already saddled up from one of the grooms ,I lead raven out Noe the announcer was taking
" welcome everyone to the teachers pick as always we will go with the first years ,first up is jumping by miss Ross the a team teacher "
There were cheered and he continued
" first we have Lora light-hand,on fires charcoal ,demonstrating great position "
Lora went up and started the course it was slow but safe and was in perfect position,she finished and the crowd cheered

" and next up we have joe black on ravens dark feathers ,showing a new side of things ,balance"

I went out in the arena,miss Ross Toledo me that she had never picked someone to go bear back ,I held on to the neck rope as we walked to the middle it was dead silent ,I looked up at everyone and there parents,I win turned raven to the first jump in a moment I kicked raven on to the first jump it wasn't high ,I had jumped higher ,the thing that was different was that I was bear back in front of an audience ,I griped on to ravens hair a little and jumped the first jump everyone was silent ,I went to the next jump and my confidence  grew with every stride raven took by the end I was ,proud of raven ,when so finished the course e everyone applauded.

I brought raven to the stables and groomed her gave her a drink and a treat ,I went back to join Emma and her friends they didn't speak as everyone else went up in jumping of the higher years ,then Emma left to get thunder ready ,dressage started and Lora went up I have to admit she is good but Emma was better in my opinion,then polo went up that just ran around the arena a bit ,I said good bye and went to raven it had beeen nearly an hour and she was ready .

I saddled her in her clean tack and got changed to my western clothes ,I put the hat on my head and lead raven to the arena they just are about to set up the barrels I see Jason in front of me
" hey"
" hey "
" you scared "
" what no"
But o could tell he was stiff as a rock he kept looking at a cupel in the stance with very sour faces
" who are they "
" my parents,they want me to do good or they think this whole think is a waste"
" ok so your the best boy in the western class and you don't think your doing good"
He softened a bit.
" yeah I guess ,thanks joe "
We smiled at each other i could see bill in the stance with the other teachers ,the announcer spoke
" and lastly ,we have the western fclass,first up the fastest boy in the first year class"
I was stroking raven and she was looking up at me I can tell that the last term was a lot of work and I am proud of her .

Jason comes back and he looked hapy he definitely had a good run
" and now for the first time in nine years ,the fasted girl rider and in her class ,joe black on ravens dark feathers"
