(a/n - i plan to write a couple more chapters and then post them in rapid succession so if i seem like i've taken a break just remember: the longer i'm inactive, the more chapters you get 😏 )

Josh walked into school with a permanent scowl plastered on his face. He hated this place. He hated how everyone was judged on how well they could memorize words from a book. He hated the way teachers looked at him when he failed yet another test. He also hated how it always smelled like sweat mixed with cheerios.

He shoved his books into his locker and slammed it. He trudged solemnly to his first period and said hello to Mrs Graugh, a woman with a strange last name and a strange personality. He hated her less than others.

Josh went to sit down at his desk. He had just begun copying down the work for the day when Brendon plopped down into the seat next to him.

"Sup bitch." He said.

"Shut the fuck up." Josh retorted.

"Love you too." Brendon smiled.

(a/n - @jo literally us)

Brendon turned in his chair to face Josh. "Anyway, how's life?"

"Seeing as I'm here, it sucks." Josh put his face in his hands and slumped down onto the desk.

"How's your hot sister?"

"She's going with Day now, dude. You missed your shot. And she's a freshman, anyway, why would you date her? She's a grade below us."

"So is Tyler Joseph, but you were basically eye-fucking him on the bus earlier."

Josh jumped up. "Shit, you noticed?"

"Josh, everyone on that bus noticed. Even the driver."

"Crap." Josh face palmed. Now everyone knew that he may or may not like a certain freshman. Possibly.

Brendon slapped Josh across the face. "Do something about it, man. Remember what I said about finding someone?"

Josh rubbed his cheek. "What the fuck man? And yes, yes I do. That's not what this is."

"Then what is it?"

"I don't.. know."

"That's what I thought." Brendon turned back around in his chair, leaving Josh to his thoughts.

What was it?
