(APOV) Abe
"Abe, Dimitri Belikov has just arrived." My guardian Pavel told me.
"Good, would you have him shown in please?"
When he nodded, I said, "thank you."
I knew the reason for this meeting was going to shock the son of my old friend. But I needed to know that my baby girl would be cared for and looked after when the time came that I couldn't do it anymore.
When we lost Rose's mother, in that car accident, it nearly destroyed the both of us. Since that day, three years ago, I have not hidden what I do from my daughter Rose. She was shocked in the beginning. But she quickly came to understand why I had always been so protective of her and her mother.
Being the mob boss of Russia, Turkey and Romania had its advantages, but it also had its disadvantages.
Since I could not be in all three places at once. I had to appoint people, that I knew that I could trust, to be in charge when I was away.
I had chosen Olena Belikova's son Dimitri, for Russia, and Eric Dragomir for Romania.
Eric's daughter Lissa, was Rose's best friend, and had been all of their lives. So Lissa split her year between here in Turkey with Rose and I and in Romania with her family. She went to school here in Turkey, and spent her summers with her family in Romania.
But since she and Rose had recently graduated from St, Vladimir's Academy, here in Turkey. I didn't know how Lissa was going to work out the time between being with Rose and being in Romania.
(YES, I AM DEFINATELY AWARE THAT ST. VLADIMIR'S WAS IN IN MONTANA IN THE BOOKS.)
Things had been difficult for both of the girls after Janine's death. Lissa loved Janine as a second mother, just as Rose did Lissa's mother Rhea. It had taken me a few days, but I found out that the car accident that had taken my precious Janine, had in fact been an accident.
But that did not stop me from worrying about Rose and trying to protect both she and Lissa. I had Lissa protected almost as well as I did my Rose. And I did so because I knew that if anything ever happened to Lissa. That not only would Rose never forgive herself, but she would also never get over it.
Hence why after graduation I had added Mason Ashford and Eddie Castile as two of Rose's personal guardians. And Christian Ozera and Adrian Ivashkov as two of Lissa's personal guardians. Although, they also each had four extra guardians, when they were away from the estate. Combined they had five male guardians and one female guardian each.
None of my enemies were dumb enough to even attempt an attack on my estate, it was too well fortified and guarded. And they all knew it.
Neither of the girls ever went anywhere without at least six guardians anymore. They knew it was prohibited, and they knew why. They'd had to find that out the hard way unfortunately.
The door to my office opened again, and in walked Dimitri Belikov.
Standing I reached out to shake his hand, "ah Dimitri, it has been a while. How have you been?"
"Busy, how about you?" Always such a polite young man. Unless he was crossed, of course. Then he was as deadly or deadlier than myself, but not deadlier than my Rose. They rivaled each other in that aspect, as well as many many others.
"Same. I know that you are wondering why I asked you here." It was a statement not a question.
"Yes."
"I have something I want to show you." He nodded.
I turned on the security monitors, in the training facility. And we watched the young woman in there train for a while.
