Eira looked absolutely beautiful as she got dressed for the world cup celebration party. She had even changed her hair colour. The tight white pants stuck to her legs while the embroided coat made her look classy and sensual at the same time.
She put on the final touch up, applying a pink lipstick and she was ready to go. She took a good look at herself and then finally decided to go downstairs.
Faris had planned this party in a matter of two days. It was more of a party that helped with the PR. Whether it was famous celebrities that stayed in his hotel while touring or national teams. It was a done deal with ICC especially for the world cup level events.
Faris was already downstairs at the party, dressed up in a fine coat. It had taken alot of persuasion by the general manager and the PR manager to convince Faris for the party.
Due to obvious reasons. He didn't want to see his face, but it would have turned into a huge issue of the captain of Indian Cricket Team wasn't invited to such a party.
So Faris remained calm through out. He just wanted Eira to have the same reaction. He didn't want her to get affected by him in any way.
On the other hand, Eira wished and prayed for the same.
She walked downstairs and shot Faris a text, asking him to come out. She didn't want to go inside alone.
"Look at you, beautiful." Faris complimented as soon as she entered.
Look at you, beautiful. She remembered those words way too well. So much for not thinking about him.
"Hani's okay?" He asked.
"Oh yeah, don't worry about him." She responded.
Hani was put for baby sitting with Farhan who had injured himself during practice.
Even though, the injury wasn't so bad and would heal in a day or two, he was still advised to rest so Hani and his uncle were together.
Eira liked that. She wanted them to be close.
The party soon came into full swing. The cricketers were dancing, having fun and mingling around with the others. A few women, probably the wives, girlfriends, sisters and some assistants were also present there.
Eira didn't see him anywhere until now. She was thank ful for that.
She felt a tap on her shoulder and she turned around, coming face to face with a woman the same age as her.
"Hello, Eira..Right?" She asked Eira, who couldn't place a finger on who the stranger was. She smiled anyway.
"Yes? I'm sorry, I don't think I know you." She responded.
"Well, You don't. But I know you very well." Her response took Eira by surprise.
Oh?
"How?" She shot back with furrowed eyebrows.
"When you have a friend that's been obsessed with you for four years, it's hard to not know you."
Virat. So She knew Virat. Indian? Probably.
"You are?" Eira asked a little sharply this time.
"I'm Rohit's wife. Virat's friend. Ritika. Even though I don't like introducing myself like that. I'm a PR agent." Eira relaxed a little. It wasn't like the woman was going to attack her or anything, right?
She could have a friendly conversation.
"Oh okay. I'm a therapist." She replied.
"I know, that's why your voice is so soothing." Ritika complimented, making her chuckle.
"That's the first time I've ever heard this compliment, to be honest." Both the women stayed a little silent after that.
"I hope it's not awkward for you? Me talking to you I mean? I was sat there all alone and then I saw you." Ritika asked after a while. To lie? Or to speak the truth?
"No, it's alright-Okay maybe a little awkward." Her response earned her a chuckle.
Ritika bit her lip before opening her big mouth.
"Not more awkward than your husband and ex fiance being in the same place though, right?" Ritika said as she saw Virat entering the hall.
Eira looked there too, glancing at Virat and then looking away. She didn't see the woman with him. The area was crowded so she couldn't see anyone clearly.
Ritika wanted to know Eira better so she started to engage in the conversation again.
"I saw you at the wedding too, back in Mumbai." She reminded Eira of the bitter sweet memory. Eira chuckled dryly.
"Yeah, a very memorable wedding."
"I know." Ritika piped up. Eira straight up frowned this time.
"You seem to know alot."
"I do, I also know that you gave Virat closure, that day at the cafe." She told Eira.
So he got his closure? Had he decided to give up?
"Did I? Because I was a bitch to him. But it's not like he didn't deserve it." Eira shot back making her laugh.
Atleast she admitted the truth. Frankly I don't give a fuck. It wasn't really a nice thing to say.
Ritika then peeked at Eira and stayed quiet.
"You know Eira, I'm not your friend, we just met. But I can assure you that the pain you must have went through, he did too. But you both should let it go now, look at you, you've moved on, I think he has too."
As soon as Ritika uttered those words, Eira's eyes fell upon the scene in front of her.
Her world stopped right there, as if no one else was around anymore. The world was playing this game with her?
Why did this have to happen to her every single time?
God, what the hell?
There standing in front of her was Virat.
With Zaynab.
