Author's note: Don't kill me for this :3

Skye's pov:

It had been a few days since that kiss with Axe and the memory of Nick's jealous glances. It lingered in the back of my mind like an echo, two thoughts vying for my attention:

- Nick, with that obvious flash of jealousy. Was he...into me?

- And Axe, with his unexpected sweetness. How much of it was genuine, and how much was just the mate bond between us?

I considered asking Gem or Lucille for advice, but it wasn't the right moment—Gem's crying echoed down the hall as she prepared herself for the wedding tonight. She refused to talk to me earlier, and I didn't know whether I should give her the space she wants or demand to keep her company.

Meanwhile, I couldn't ignore Axe's promise: after tonight, he'd give me the truth he'd kept locked away.

A soft knock at my door interrupted my thoughts. I was halfway through my makeup, going for an edgy look that would make a statement. This was the first time most of the pack would see me, the servant-turned-wolf, now Luna of the pack.

Opening the door, I found one of Axe's guards, who handed me a package with a simple nod. I set it aside, finishing the dark liner that made my silver eyes pop, before curling my hair. Satisfied, I finally unwrapped the package.

Inside lay a golden dress, stunning and perfectly chosen. The fabric draped loosely around the chest, cinched at the waist, and fell in elegant vertical folds with a slit running high along the leg. Classy, but with a dangerous allure.

A note slipped from the package. I unfolded it.

"Hey there, my mate.

Hope you like the dress... I haven't forgotten our promised talk, so don't be too mean to me tonight.

—Alex"

His signature threw me off guard, Alex instead of Axe. The softer name felt like a glimpse into his real self, a vulnerability he rarely showed. Tucking the note in my drawer, I slipped on the dress, in the box there was also a pair of black stiletto heels, a rose-shaped golden necklace adorned with small red pearls, which I fastened around my neck, the petals catching the light.

When I looked in the mirror, even I was taken aback. The dress accentuated every curve, and the smoky liner sharpened the silver of my eyes to something dangerously alluring. I should really dress up more often.

I stepped out of the pack house, and heads turned. The gazes of unmated wolves lingered, a few of them admiring openly, though most of them kept a respectful distance. But it was Nick's expression that caught my attention. He stood nearby, frozen, eyes widening just a fraction as they swept over me, lingering at the curve of my waist, the slit that exposed my leg. A flash of something dark and possessive flickered across his face.

The moment he saw me, his jaw went slack. His gaze traveled over every inch of the dress, lingering on the slit, the necklace, and back to my face, a strange mix of admiration and... something else flickering in his eyes. For a second, he looked like he wanted to say something, his hand half-raised, but all he managed was a quiet, "Skye."

"Yeah?" I replied coolly, crossing my arms, as if his gaze hadn't rattled me.

"More than nice," he hesitated, his gaze never leaving me. "You look..." He trailed off, almost speechless.

I raised an eyebrow, not letting the words touch me. Just when I thought he might actually find the words he was reaching for, Axe appeared.

Unlike Nick, he made no attempt to muffle his admiration. He stepped forward with a confidence that turned every head in his path, his gaze warm but searing as he took in every detail of the dress, the necklace, and the smirk tugging at my lips.
