Author's note:
Now I know I'm a week late but listen up, my house burned, well a part of it did, I was home alone when it happened, dad was at work, mom and my siblings out of town for the day. AND I WAS FUCKING ALONE. Do not get me started on how scary it was to see the fire raging in my parents' bedroom.
All in all the bedroom is the only thing that was truly damaged, we now have to redo everything including the ceilings, floor, and buy new furniture. The rest of the house is a bit damaged, the thick black smoke stuck to the paint like a tongue sticks on ice, and now my house looks like it could be on the remake of The Grudge.
So I didn't really have time to write with all the fuss that's been going on, and now that school started my updates will not be daily anymore, this year is the one of the two most important years for me so I really really really have to concentrate on it, but I'll make sure I finish this story this month because I don't want to unpublish it and finish it next summer or in the next long vacation, and I definitely do not want to keep it stuck in a cliff hanger for months.
WELL THANKS FOR UNDERSTANDING, HOPE YOU LIKE IT <3
LOVE YA'LL
Now let's get into iiiit.

As I was editing this note was very amusing to read, I can't believe it's been 6 years.

Gem's POV:
(during the time Skye was getting kidnapped)
I was back in my room, staring at the ceiling, wide awake while the rest of the world slept. Servants shouldn't wake up this early, but I couldn't stop my mind from racing. My chest felt heavy, suffocated by memories and questions.
I had been kidnapped. Missing. Taken against my will. And yet... he just found someone else? That easily? After everything we shared, was I so forgettable? Did all those years together mean so little to him?
The memories hit me like a tidal wave—each one more vivid than the last. The way he'd surprise me with little dances in the moonlight when we thought no one was watching. The late-night drives to the beach, where we'd blast music, laughing like the world was ours. He'd cook for me, experimenting with those bizarre recipes he found online that somehow always turned out delicious.
Does he do those things with her now? Is she the one laughing with him in the middle of the night, dancing until her legs give out? Is she the one tasting the strange concoctions he puts together in the kitchen?
The thought cut deeper than I expected. Am I really that replaceable? That easy to forget?
Tears pricked my eyes, but I refused to cry over him anymore. I'd already shed too many for Richard. Still, the pain lingered, sharp and unrelenting. I tried to remind myself that I wasn't perfect either—that there was someone else for me too. Kaiden. A name that felt like both a ghost and a stranger.
I didn't remember him, but the stories... the stories made my heart ache in ways I couldn't explain. He was supposed to be my mate, my soulmate. How could that be? How could someone I barely recalled hold such a significant part of my existence?
They told me the mate bond was impossible to resist.
The more I thought about Kaiden, the more restless I became. There was something pulling me toward him, an invisible thread drawing tighter with each passing second. I couldn't ignore it anymore.
