Justin's POV
I woke up in Nicolette's empty bed. I sat up and saw Nicolette pacing around the room talking to someone on her phone.
"Are you sure?" She asked
"Oh. Okay well, thanks..... Bye." She said quietly. She took the phone away from her ear and sighed. I got up and walked over to her. I embraced her from behind.
"What's wrong Baby?" I asked her. She squirmed away and looked toward me.
"I just lost my job at the little ice cream shop." She said. I got a guilty feeling it was because of the shooting.
"It was because of the shooting." She said like she was reading my mind.
"I'm sorry."
"Don't worry Jay. It's not your fault."
"Yes it is. I was the one who came to your little shop. I got you into this mess."
"Justin, why are you apologizing? I was the only store around for you to get help at. It's okay. Besides, it's not a mess. I only lost my job at the little ice cream shop. I have another high paying job as a waiter at Rivera restaurant down the street."
"It might not be a mess now, but if it has to do with me, believe me, it's going to turn into a mess."
"Well I'll get through it as long as I have you." She smiled. I smiled back.
"When you say it's gonna turn into a mess, what do you mean?" She asked me. I hesitated.
"Well it kind of means like, killings, shootings, kidnapping, and things like that." I said quietly. She stayed quiet for a second.
"Justin." She said seriously.
"What."
"I don't want you in my house anymore." Those words broke me.
"What?" I asked in disbelief. She sighed.
"Justin. You are dangerous. My friends have even told me that. You're putting me in danger, and I don't like that. I can't handle all this. Gangs, Kidnappings, KILLINGS. Justin, I don't want you in my life. I don't want to talk to you, hear from you, or even see you after you leave my property." She said, getting louder, and soon yelling. I looked at the floor and looked back up. Nicolette looked at me and looked away. I walked out of the room and into my room. Nicolette followed me and went into the closet. She brought out a suitcase.
"You can have as many of the clothes in there as you want." She went back into the closet, motioning me to follow her. I did and she went to a part of the closet where I haven't been to. She moved all the clothes and there was suddenly a portion of a room with all kinds of phones on it.
"You can pick one, like I promised you."
"Why and how do you have so many phones?" I asked her.
"Well I also own a business. Both my parents owned a couple phone companies. So when they joined in marriage, they combined companies, and they handed the business down to me after they died in a car crash when I was 15."
"So exactly how many jobs do you have?" I asked Nicolette. She thought for a moment.
"About eight." She said.
"Oh, okay." I walked around the room looking for the perfect phone. I stopped in front of the iPhone 5. I picked it up and turned to Nicolette. She nodded in permission and I thanked her quietly.
I packed some clothes that I liked to where the suitcase was full. I glanced at Nicolette and without making a full glance at me, she turned, and walked downstairs, leading me to the front door. I followed her with my suitcase. Once she got to the door, she opened it wide for me.
"Bye Nicolette." I said looking at the ground. I looked up at her and she rolled her eyes. I walked past get and out the door. She slammed the door right when I was of out the way.
I started walking down her driveway, pulling out my phone. I called a taxi driver number that I memorized. Once the taxi came, I got in and told him my address.
Why did Nicolette kick me out?
Did I do something wrong?
I thought she started to like me.
Even just a little bit.
Did she really mean those thing she said?
Never talk to her again?
Never come into contact with her again?
No. I can't do that. Not after she did all this for me. I haven't done anything for her except for put her in danger. I'm so stupid. I'm just a mess up.
I shouldn't have even went to her little ice cream shop.
I should've just ran out the mall. I had that chance. Didn't I?
All these things ran through my head and I snapped out of my thoughts when the taxi stopped. I have the taxi driver a twenty and thanked him. I got out the taxi and went to my front door. I fished the keys out of my back pocket. I unlocked my door and went in. Of course my house was empty, with all the lights off. But, of course I could see pretty fine because it was at least 10a.m.now. Plus the heat outside is really hot.
__________
I've been home for at least an hour now, and it has been the most boring hour, OF. MY. LIFE. I decided to call up one of my buddies and go to the basketball court with me. I took out my phone and typed in Chaz's number. He picked up on the second ring.
"Hello?" He said trying to sound sophisticated. I laughed.
"Dude you sound so lame." I said to him.
"Oh, bro I didn't know it was you."
"Well, yeah it's me so meet me at the basketball court in ten minutes and I'll explain everything."
"Ok dude. See you there."
"Ok bye." I hung up and changed into some basketball shirts and a tank top. I grabbed a bottle of water, plus my basketball and made my way to the court.
