***RACHEL'S POV***
The only terrible thing about J.D and Veronica becoming close friends is the fact that he's now constantly at the apartment. Veronica says she's helping him with his writing for school, since English and writing isn't exactly his strong suit, but regardless, I still get kicked out of the room at least twice a week. It'd be fine if he wasn't constantly on my nerves.
I was in the kitchen making myself pancakes for dinner, when J.D came through the front door.
"A man loves coming home to dinner on the table," he said, walking towards the counter and leaning against it.
"I hope men like getting fat lips too because that's where you're headed," I mumbled and he laughed.
"You couldn't hurt me," he challenged, taking a chocolate chip out of the bag that was on the counter.
"Can I help you with something?" I asked, annoyed.
"Nah," he admitted, taking a handful of chocolate. He cleared his throat and leaned over my pancake bowl.
"What the hell?!" I yelled, shoving him away before he could cough up a loogie in my pancake batter.
J.D laughed and disappeared down the hallway. When I finished making my pancakes, I took them into my room to eat. Veronica was helping J.D was something, but I was going to be putting headphones in anyway.
I put on some music through headphones and ate, looking out the window at some kids playing in the back, paved lot.
"Hey Rach!" J.D yelled.
Without removing my headphones, I looked in the direction of him and Veronica. Veronica was going off on him about something, and I took out a headphone.
"No, see," J.D said to her. "She can hear me now."
He got up and walked over to where I was sitting on my bed.
"Veronica told me you cut your hair to try to get over me," J.D laughed, taking a piece of my pancake off my plate and eating it. "That desperate?"
I looked at Veronica, who appeared just as annoyed as I was, and she shook her head indicating that she hadn't said that to him.
"Well that's a lie," I said plainly. "Even if I did, I least I upgraded my look instead of switching out bad-boy clothes for plaid shirts and jeans."
I smiled sarcastically at him and he scoffed.
"The girls seem to think differently," he challenged, and I laughed.
"What girls?" I asked. "The little freshman girls who just want to get with the campus bad boy?"
"You know I have more self respect than that," J.D argued, and I shook my head.
"Sure you do," I replied sarcastically. "So much so that you have a good twenty condoms in your bottom bedside drawer."
"I got those when we were together," he snapped, angry at me for accusing him of being a fuckboy.
"Should've kept the receipt," I replied with a smile, and Veronica snickered.
"You think this is funny?" J.D asked, turning to face Veronica.
"I think she kicked your ass," Veronica replied, and he looked back at me.
"Point Rachel," I smiled devilishly. "Try again next time."
J.D rolled his eyes and picked up his textbook.
"Aw," I cooed sarcastically. "Gonna go get some ice for that burn?"
"Put a sock in it," he muttered, walking out of the room.
I sat on my bed laughing, and Veronica chuckled a bit as well.
"You know," she started, "I was trying to help him with school work."
"Well, maybe next time he'll come with some thicker skin and less fragile of an ego," I laughed, finishing my food. "What a cuck."
"A cuck that you slept with," Veronica mumbled, hoping I wouldn't hear.
I threw my pillow at her and she laughed. "I was gonna head out soon, anyway," she started. "I have a date tonight."
"Ooooo," I pestered. "A date? Who with?"
"Alex Denmark," she replied, putting her books away. "You heard of 'em?" I shook my head and she shrugged. "Well, wish me luck," she continued, and I nodded.
Just like that, Veronica left the room to get ready for her date. Scott had a date that night too. It was weird being the only one who couldn't care less about relationships.
