***VERONICA'S POV***

"You kneed him in the balls?!"
"I kneed him in the balls. How was your date?"
"You kneed J.D in the balls?" I shook my head, trying to hold in laughter.
"We have established that I kneed him in the balls," Rachel replied. "Now how was your date."
"That is not the topic at hand," I chuckled, closing my textbook. "I was actually going over there tomorrow night to hang out. Maybe you could come?"
Rachel looked at me like I was an idiot. "You're not being serious, are you?" she asked.
"I guess not," I laughed.
"Girls!" Mimi called.
We both turned to face her and she put a finger to her lips. I guess we were being too loud.
"I'm just gonna be helping him with Stats," I explained. "And I know you aren't exactly a math person either."
"I'm also not a J.D person," Rachel mumbled, and I shook my head again.
"When are you two just going to get over it," I asked, and she looked at me confused.
"Get over what?" Rachel asked, tapping her pencil against the library table.
"This new hatred you have for each other," I continued.
"I wouldn't have any negative feelings towards the twat if he didn't go and steal my god damn journal," Rachel mumbled. "He's the one who started it by not leaving me alone."
"Maybe he doesn't want to," I said quickly, and Rachel shot me a look. "Maybe he's just being an asshole to get your attention."
"Enough of that," she muttered. "Besides, it wouldn't matter if-"
"You loved him," I interrupted, and she bit her lip.
Rachel sighed and shrugged slightly. "Of course I did," she admitted, "but it doesn't matter."
"Why not?" I asked.
"Because he's Jason Dean," Rachel chuckled slightly. "He's big bad J.D who doesn't have feelings for anyone."
"That's not what you told me he said to you the day you got together," I reminded her, and she shrugged again.
"It doesn't matter," she repeated. "Okay?"
I nodded and she stood up. "You gonna be home tonight?" she asked.
I shook my head. "I'm going out again with Alex," I told her, and she nodded.
"I'll see you later then," Rachel said to me, and soon she had disappeared.

***RACHEL'S POV***

After my conversation with Veronica, I decided on going to Abnormal Psych early. That and Stats were the only two classes I had on Tuesdays anyway, and as much as I loved psychology, I just wanted to get it over with. I wanted to be done with schoolwork and curl up in a ball in bed.
Ever since I spoke to my mom, I had begun to feel a lot better. It was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. In a way, speaking to he and losing hope for that relationship allowed me to be free of a longing I could never fill.
In psychology we discussed the different states of consciousness and how they can link to psychosis. For once in my life, I wasn't paying attention. Instead, I flipped through my journal attempting to find any evidence of where J.D had left off. Nothing in the pages appeared to be changed or marked in any way, and by the time I had regained focus on the professor, class was over.
The rest of my day was spent in bed. I watched TV, doodled, and mindlessly flipped through pages of my math textbook. Around seven o'clock, as it began to get dark outside, I heard a light thud on my window. I looked over and saw a sticky dart stuck to it, and something was tied around the rubber part.
I slid open my window and removed the toy bullet. Tied around it with string was a note that read: "Come out to the back lot, and be prepared."
I recognized the handwriting immediately, and, barefoot, I left my room and made my way outside.
