"Your friends are quite deplorable." America heaved a sigh as she slumped back into the passenger seat, leaning heavily against the door as the cozy little restaurant stared back at her, taunting her with the fact that she hadn't gone with the man inside and left her phone tucked into the glove compartment. In doing so, she would've had some more time before her phone chimed with a flood of messages, some hinting at a request for help and one, in particular, all but demanding it because it was the right thing to do.
Esther Mikaelson had somehow gotten a foothold in the door to the Other Side after it had been momentarily opened and the witch had blown it wide open. The dead walked free in Mystic Falls and those who died didn't stay dead, able to walk right back out the open door if they wished to. The only witch in town had gone to the Witch House, seeking help and the spirits had name-dropped her as the easiest and quickest solution. So, it was Bonnie's message that didn't ask but rather ordered her help.
Elena didn't pose a question at all, simply informing her how Vicki Donovan, the first of the dead to roam, had tried burning her and Alaric alive and it was only by America's protection spells that the brunette survived the fire and saved Alaric before the car exploded. Damon told her he had been greeted by Mason and attacked by Lexi, lamenting how he would prefer it if who he killed stayed dead. Stefan called shortly after his run-in with the blonde, hissing his distaste that she had tried to convince him to flip his switch.
As if he wasn't better off the way he was. It was his and Elena's recap that had her realizing it was Esther when Damon nor Bonnie had a name for her. Only the witch had the power and the determination to knock the door open and unleash one of the multiple attempts to thwart her son's plans by killing the last human Petrova doppelganger before she could ever ensure the existence of another. There would be nothing more effective than that. Another sigh escaped her lips. "Tell me something I don't know."
Rebekah hummed on the other side of the line. "Well, I'm sure you don't know that they are starting to doubt your loyalty to them seeing as you are still with my brother. It was somewhat painful watching them have their little meeting and listening to Damon Salvatore and Katherine's more boring lookalike defend you only for the resident witch and hunter to speak against you. And there was Stefan, of course, but with his emotions off, he was always a bit of a wild card."
America frowned, "You know you might actually like Elena if you gave her a chance, but questioning my loyalty? Because I'm still with Klaus? I gave up my life for Damon's and they know that." Or so she had thought. "Hm, Stefan may have dropped the hint that you've been sleeping with him for months, which, I'll be honest and say was certainly news to me." To put it simply, she was going to murder Stefan Salvatore at least a few times. "That asshole," America exhaled frustratedly, pinching the bridge of her nose, "I get nightmares sometimes.
