Chapter 8

Katie's POV

I was sitting at the kitchen table staring into space thinking about what Luke was doing. I can't believe things have actually came to this. Only if we had talked about what was happening between us years ago rather than getting to this point. Now he is with some whore.
"Mama when is Daddy coming home, he said he would help us with our homework" Tate asked
"He shouldn't be too much longer honey" I said
"Ok" he running off outside to play
I started to wonder when it went wrong, who was to blame but I couldn't pin point when. I remember when I was pregnant with Bo he was so attentive and couldn't get enough of me and even when I was expecting the twins he was all over me and now where is he, shacked up in some hotel room.
A heard a car pull up in the runway and Tate came running in
"Meemaw is here mama" he said all excited
I forgot Leclaire was coming over, she actually missed Bo's party as she was visiting her sister and the flight got cancelled
"Hey honey, how is my favourite daughter in law" she asked
"I'm good mama," I said clearing lying. I was far from fine
"Meeeemawwww," Tate and Caydence said running in and hugging her
"Hi babies, where is Bo" she asked
"He with his friends at the baseball park, he should be home about 7 and Luke, well he is out" I said
"Tate, Caydence why don't you go and get my bags out the car, I think I have some gifts in there for you. I just need to speak to your mama ok" she said kissing them
I knew she picked up on my sadness.
"Katie darlin' what's wrong, is everything ok with you and Luke" she asked
I started crying
"Oh mama, I just don't know what to do" I said
"Is he treating you bad because I didn't raise a man who don't treat woman correctly" she said
"It's both of us mama, we ain't been good for years and now he is, oh never mind it ain't your worry" I said
"Katie where is he" I asked
"Nashville, with god knows who. I seen a text on his phone from someone called Anna, and he was to meet her at the Holiday Inn" I said
"Oh honey I'm so sorry, I will kill him when I get my hands on him."
"No mama don't let him know I told you. I'm as much to blame. I ain't been the wife I should have. I never go see him on the road and he must get lonely"
"Katie don't you dare blame yourself for this, loneliness ain't a reason to sleep around. He made a vow in front of god and he broke that. Don't worry I won't say anything to him. When he comes back I will act normal ok" she said
"Thanks mama"
We talked for a good while and then I heard Luke's truck pull in to the drive. I seen him walking in. He came into the kitchen and acted like normal
"Hey mama" he said hugging her
"Hey baby" she said kissing my cheek
As he bent down I saw a hickey on his neck
"You bastard" I said slapping him across the face and I ran out side and jumped in his truck.
