Moving In

Some hours later, we came to a town. I spent most of the time staring out the window listening to music, I was glad that the dogs were asleep. I tried to drain my parent's bickering over the road map and the GPS. Seeing a sign, Welcome to Ocean View.

Yawning, "Mona were here" "Where is here ?" I asked sitting up a little. "Ocean View, San Diego" dad explained. "Oh" I said a little disappointed. "It'll be getting use to Mona, new beginnings" mom chimed in.

Ha, new beginnings yeah right. I'll fit in just fine, being the newbie in town. There were big houses and small houses on each side of the road, most white, while others other colors. I even saw a purple house. Nothing bright but a nice light purple color.

We came to one stop light, then turned down on Circle Ave. On Circle Ave there were two story houses, all looked like fancy celebrity houses. "Are those... celebrity houses ?" I asked. "No, they aren't. They're country club houses" mom pointed out.

Oh. Dad then pulled down another street called Rosewood St, some of the names of the streets I saw had really nice names like...Seagull Rd, Rosemary Ct, and many others. "There's our new house" dad explained. We lived down on Maple St, the fifth house down on the right.

Seemed nice, house seemed like a nice size. Once he parked in the driveway, I got out, but both Pan and Daisy bounded out of the car and nearly knocking me over.  "Nice house" I said. "There's three rooms and two baths, so you get first choice" dad informed me.

"Seriously ?" I asked surprised. "Yes" he said as he handed me the house keys. Unlocking the front door Pan and Daisy followed me in, "heel boy" I told him. Inside the house was big and opened, and looked very comfy.

Walking in, a nice living room, empty, of course. Near it a fairly big kitchen, a table for dining, seeing a nice backyard as well. I pressed my palms to the glass door. "How you like it  Mona ?' I heard dad's voice behind me. "It's big and nice" I said twirling around to see them.

"Find a room yet ?" mom asked. 'Haven't looked" I said then walked off. First room off to the left from the hallway was a bathroom, next to it was a washer dryer room. Finding a room it was small and a closet next door to it. So I kept on looking.

Walking back towards the living room, and finding stairs around a corner. I liked the stairs, how it looked was a beauty. Going upstairs, finding another bathroom, a larger one this time.  Next to it a fairly size bedroom with a walk in closet.

Mom and dad should have this room I thought of them. In the middle of the walk way was a small closet and in the corner, a door. I gripped the handle and slowly opened it. Walking in, was a big size room, like the other. "Found my room !" I yelled.

Not even long after mom came up, standing in the door way, "wow, good choice Mona" she said. "Ok... let's get your things" she said. "I can get it mom, don't worry" I told her. "Oh... you sure ?" she asked. "Yes mom" I said then walked out of the room and headed down.

Coming outside, there was a warm breeze. Opening the back of the truck, jumping in, I started grabbing boxes and sliding them to the tailgate. Carrying one box at a time, I got the kitchen box inside for mom, and other boxes for her.

I knew mom would want to decorate, she had a knack for decorating. I'd say she was good at it. Pan was outside with me, running around the truck, while  I grabbed more boxes, until he began barking. "Pan stop it" I told him. "Pan" I said again.

"Need any help ?" I twirled around, but ended up hitting a box with my back heel and began falling over the side. I swear it was all slow motion, til arms caught me but ended up falling on the person. Glancing up seeing the hero, "I'm so sorry" I apologized bracing myself up.

I quickly got out of his arms and stood up, "no worries, just better be careful" he said brushing himself off. "Yeah, I'll remember that" I said. "So do you still need help ?" he asked again. "Huh... yes, no I mean I..." I rambled on.

"You must be new then" he said running his fingers through his hair. "Does it show ?" I asked shocked. "Yeah" he replied. "I never got your name" he told me. "Uh... It's Mona" I told him. "Wow, gorgeous name" he said. "Thanks, what's your name ?" I asked.

"You're welcome, it's Lewis" he said. "Nice to meet you" I told him. "You too" Lewis said. "So you do or don't need help still ?" he asked. "Sorry, yeah, you can help" I replied. He jumped over the side of the truck like it was nothing, and started grabbing heavier boxes.

Pulling them towards the tailgate, he jumped down and grabbed one. "Where too ?" he asked. "Follow me" I stated. He followed close behind where the box needed to be. Not even long, he got all the heavy boxes in the house.

"Thanks for the help" I thanked him. "No problem" Lewis said. "Need anything else in ?" he asked. "Uh..." I began thinking. "No, nothing else" I told him. "Ok, if you need any other help, just ask" he said then turned to leave. "Wait" I said. "Yeah ?" Lewis turned.

"Never mind" I said changing the subject. He smiled then walked away. Walking back into the house, seeing mom standing there in the living room. "Were you standing there all that time ?" I asked shutting the door. "Maybe, meet someone ?" she asked.

Here we go again. "Just a person mom" I said picking up a box and carrying it towards the stairs. "Oh ? Just a person ?" she asked. I ignored her and went up stairs towards my room, setting the box down in the middle of the room, I just stood there staring at nothing, but just walls.

Finally deciding to unpack, I opened boxes, old memories filled my brain. Not there was a lot of memories to remember, just my elder friends from the bookstore. I missed them, Mr and Mrs. Elks, Mr. Larsen, Ms. Dion, Mr. Perry, and Mr. Ryan.

I didn't have my bed, dresser, or bookshelf up yet, I knew dad would help me with that. After dinner, which dad drove to a random store around here and got sandwiches, chips, and some drinks. I didn't complain about it.
