My cell alarm went off at 7:00, I was buried under my blanket. I wasn't a morning person. Note that...I'm not a morning person. Poking my head out from the blankets, I dropped my gaze to the window, squinting in the sunlight.

I swear I needed some sort of shades or curtains. The sunlight poured into my window, casting light on my face and the walls. Rolling over on my right side, I stared at the wall, not wanting to get out. I was very warm and so very comfy.

Why is it so hard to get out a very comfy bed that's super warm ? What's the reason ? There has to be one. Ugh. I sat up groggy and mad I had to get out of this oh so very... amazing...comfy bed. Why me ?

"Bed why do you just have to be so comfy ?" I asked it. "Talking to your bed again sweetie ?" mom walked in. "Yes, it's just so comfy and so warm, do I really have to go to school ?" I asked her. "You always say that, and ask me what's the meaning of getting out of it" she explained.

"Yes, and still... no logical reason of wanting to leave a warm bed" I told her. "Google it" is all she had to say. Google it. That's all she says.  "Come on Mona up, you have get up" mom said in her most stern voice. Mom wasn't the stern type, but she tried her best at it.

I groaned and finally got out. Mom smiled and left the room, I first did some stretching before doing anything else. Not long I rummaged through my clothes, and grabbing whatever seemed worthy. I didn't care about my wardrobe, but there were times when I did care.

Ha I know, a simple teenager. But that's me. After pulling up my camo jeans, and slipping on a white tank top, and slipping over black t-shirt then pulled on my awful black rimmed glasses. Yeah I know not something a "girly girl" would wear on her first day of school.

I had no type of being something, I was random. Grabbing my messenger bag, and running down the stairs, nearly tripping over the last step. I caught my balance. "Morning Mona" dad said as I walked over. "Hey" I said as I took his apple from him.

"Got to go, sorry about the apple" I told him. I walk towards the door, "Mona" I heard mom's voice. Turning back, she threw a lunch bag. "Thanks" I said as I caught it. Leaving, I ran around the house to find my bike. Yeah I knew I had my driver's permanent, but needed to finish.

I tossed my leg over and pedaled off towards the High School. Your also probably wondering why a seventeen teenager is going to High School still, and not in some College. To answer that... I was heading to College, but I had at least four Colleges/Universities to choose from.

I was down on fifth street, rounding the corner, went I skidded to a halt as a car zoomed by. "Geez slow down" I mumbled under my breath. Pushing off, I resumed on my way. Coming to Creek drive, I passed some stores I passed when coming into town. Taking a left off Creek drive and merging onto Candlebrook Ave.

Who named these streets ? Some where just... weird, like who would name a street Candlebrook or even Evergreen Lane ? Later in the story you'll hear more of those types of names. Seeing the High School up ahead, I came to a stop at the bike racks.

After locking it to the rack, I glanced up at the building. It was a grayish building, big enough for an army or two. There were a lot of students around, some came in their own cars, the bus, on bikes, scooters, you name it. I just even saw a guy on roller blades.

I just didn't see a whole lot of parents dropping off their kids. Teenagers now these days have their own cars and whatnot. Not even long I heard the bell ring, everyone piled through the double doors, heading to their classes.

I didn't even know the school that well, that I nearly got lost just trying to find the registration desk. I had to ask a student where it was. Finally finding it, I twirled my hair between my fingers. "Can I help you ?" a lady behind the desk asked.

"Uh... I'm kinda new here" I told her. Seeing she had red rimmed glasses, the blackest black hair I've ever seen, she was wearing a yellow cardi, with a polka-dot navy dress that was peeking out from her open cardi.

"Oh I see, your the new student. Follow me I'll take you to your classes" she said. She stepped out from behind the desk, her black hair was tied up into a tight bun, and noticing her shoes, the cutest yellow flats. She knew her fashion well.

I did want to ask her where she got her clothes, but didn't. I'm not good at guessing ages, but maybe this lady was in her forties ? Mid forties ? She opened a door, the teacher stopped and turned towards us.

Talk about awkward. "Hello Mrs. Turner. How can I help you ?" the teacher asked her. "New student for you Mr. Lucas" she told him. "Ah, I see. Won't you please enter. And thank you Mrs. Turner" Mr. Lucas told her.

She smiled and left leaving me standing alone. Swallowing, I silently walked over. "Please, introduced yourself" Mr. Lucas smiled. "Um... ok. Well I'm new here, just moved here" I started. "Where you from ?" a boy in the back asked. "Spring Creek California".

"What's your name ?" Mr. Lucas asked me. "Mona Jacks" I told him. "Well it's a pleasure to have a new student here, welcome aboard Mona" he said smiling. Seeing an empty desk, I sat down at it. After sitting, few students stared at me.

"Alrighty... pull out your English books, turn to page... 31" Mr. Lucas told everyone. They all pulled out books from either their desks, or backpacks. "Is anyone willing to share with Mona ?" Mr. Lucas asked. "I'll share sir" someone said. "Thank you" Mr. Lucas said.

As I turned, nearly bumping heads with the other student. "I'm sorry" he said backing away. "No I'm sorry" I said moving. He smiled then moved his book in front of me, the class read in silent. After reading, Mr. Lucas then had us play a game, called Would You Rather ?

"Kyana, would you rather live a one million year life, or live ten million one hundred lives ?" he asked her. "I'd live a one million year life" she said. "Ok. Bryce would you rather have the ability to read minds or just have the ability to read ?" the teacher asked.

I glanced over to see a guy slouched in his chair and scratching his head. "I'd rather have that ability to read minds so I know what girls think of me" he said. Everyone laughed at that. Mr. Lucas only smiled.

"Nikki, would you rather live in a world where huge, friendly gummy bears walk around, or live in a world where hover boards exist ?" he asked her. She smiled, "good question Mr. Lucas, I'd pick the huge friendly gummy bears" she told him. Mr. Lucas stared at her smiling back.

"Can I have those hover boards ?" someone asked from the back. Everyone laughed again. "Mona" Mr. Lucas said. That mini heart attack when the teacher calls on you, for an answer you don't know, and everyone just stares at you.

"You're on a desert island with a beautiful man or woman, would you rather they are top half fish or are they bottom half- fish ?" he asked glaring in my way. I bit my lower lip, "I'd rather they are bottom half-fish, because they'd be a mermaid or merman" I said.

Not long the bell rang. "Don't pack up yet, we have a few minutes" Mr. Lucas said. I nearly laughed out loud that all the students just started packing up very slowly. I never saw anyone pack slowly and quietly leaving. "Alright, class dismissed" he said. Everyone piled out.
