"But didn't he know that he would be attacked?" Frisk asked.

"I'm sure he did." Chara replied,

"Then why? What would the point of going to the surface be? Why would you want to go?" Frisk wondered.

"We were children, Frisk. I wanted to be a superhero and he wanted to make my dreams come true." Chara grew short tempered, it was obvious, as every word grew more angry.

Frisk took that as a sign to stop asking questions, even though he still had much more he wanted to ask.

Chara sighed, resting her head against the back of his shoulder,
"I'm sorry. I know it was a long time ago. Every time I look back, though, I realize that it was all so stupid. I know it wouldn't have worked. I should have known then. All I remember is that it seemed so flawless. My plan..
but every time I think about it, it was stupid and against morals." She whispered.

Frisk looked to Chara, before deciding to stop. He walked over to a tree and set Chara down, before sitting down with his back to the wood, and patting the ground next to him, to indicate she should sit down, too.

Chara did, and looked up to him.

Frisk sighed, and looked to Chara.
"I don't need to know what you did to tell you this.
You grew up. It's been years, Chara, look at your body.
Consider your thoughts.

You aren't nine anymore, and you see the world differently. You skipped the transition, and it must be so confusing without it. To, all of a sudden, have fun taken out of everything. To have logic suddenly apply.
You hardly seem to fit in your clothes anymore, meanwhile you don't even remember growing." He murmured.

"And even yet, you never truly grew up. I had to carry you this whole time, and you're hiding whatever you're feeling. You're forcing a smile everywhere you go." He sounded almost stern.

Chara frowned.
"Frisk. I'm scared." She admitted quietly.
"I'm scared, I'm angry, I'm sad, I'm livid, and yet I'm so overjoyed," She added,
"That you're here. I haven't felt so happy; yet so empty at the same time," Chara laughed dryly.

Frisk frowned,
Truly, he hadn't expected that.
He didn't know what to do, so he put an arm around Chara, and Chara moved in close.

Chara was crying, but smiling,
"What if they forget me? I miss mom.. I miss Asriel.. I miss dad. They don't want to mention him. There are no photos of us..
They're trying to forget me, and everything I did to ruin their perfect family." Chara said.
"But they can't, because of exactly that. They live without their loved ones by their side because I took that away from them." Chara whispered.

"And, youre going to leave. I know you are. You're going to set them all free.. but I'll be stuck down here.
I don't want to leave, I love it here. I love the underground..
And if you leave, and I stay, I'll just be stuck here for eternity. Because I'm a ghost.
I don't want to be here. I want to be dead." Chara whispered.

Frisk couldn't understand. Not on a personal level.
He hugged the ghost girl close, and she hugged him back,
Frisk frowned,
"Chara, if you were dead, I wouldn't be here right now. You mean so much to me.. please don't ever leave me." He whispered, holding his companion and only friend as close as he could.

Chara relaxed in his grip.
It was nice. The nostalgic feeling she grew to miss
A hug, by someone much larger than her. To be engulfed in warmth and love of someone you knew and trusted, someone you loved.

Chara blushed, and nodded slightly.
She couldn't leave him. No matter what came.
No matter what laid ahead,
He was too much to lose.
And, hell, she wasn't losing someone she loved.
Not again,
Never again.
