After years of raising Alexis, Juan has taught him everything he knows to defend himself from the dangers ahead. "Self defense is a vital skill to learn in a world like this little amigo" Juan told Alexis after their sparring session. "hahaha, Juan I'm 22, you've told me that since the first time you trained me for this" shaking his head with a smile. Juan chuckled in response. "The more you train the better you become, and right now, you've overpowered even my most skilled friends, little amigo, I am impressed" Alexis and Juan continue to converse as a wounded civilian approached them. "JUAN! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!" Juan startled by the mans sudden outburst and proceeds to ask "why what's the matter?" The man spoke angrily "THOSE BASTARDS INVADED TIJUANA AND RIGHT NOW PUEBLA HAS FALLEN" Juan ordered for a counter attack but the man cut him off "NO! THEY WONT BE INVADING IF YOU HAVNT TOOK THAT BOY. YOU SHOULD HAVE JUST LEFT HIM TO DIE!" Juan snapped in anger and knocked the already injured man out. He then turns to a confused Alexis "Alexis take all of your things and go to the west city port, there should be a couple of boats in wait for you. These boats are heavily armored with a deck filed with defensive weapons and several bunkers below deck, leave now!" Alexis answered with an angry expression "no! give me a weapon, I will fight them with you!" a nearby radio tele-communicator suddenly spoke "Sector Alpha November Uniform Sierra! I repeat this is Sector Alpha November Uniform Sierra, they have broken through our heavy defenses and are proceeding to take down Mexico City!, all available units, retreat to the docks, its useless to defend, they have overpow-kssssh. Juan spoke more angrily "Alexis, these are highly trained soldiers from OWCA these aren't just guards that they assign to the wall, I order you to leave now! Those boats will take you to the safety of Hawaii, Hawaii separated from the United States years ago, fearing that the separation will lead to complications on their islands. Your safer there than anywhere near here! GO! GOO ALEXIS." Alexis argued back "but what about the bunkers, why wont we just hide there??" Juan spoke, irritated by how inquisitive Alexis is at a moment like this. "The bunkers have all been stormed by OWCA, Not a single one is safe to go in now" Before Alexis could open his mouth, a loud earth shaking noise was heard and a tank appeared from the smoke, aimed at their settlement, and shot a round. Alexis wastes no time to pull Juan to safety as they both run for the docks.
This cant happen again. I lost my father to an OWCA ambush when he was in his car, bringing goods to a nearby Mexican settlement which was covered up as a car accident, I lost my mother to an OWCA attack when we were helping out settlements and now I could lose Juan, my now father who is helping me survive in this world. He could die all because of OWCA...
A fiery rage erupted in his heart, vengeance began to cloud his mind. They both arrived to the boat tired and sweating in adrenaline. They say their last goodbyes. OWCA infantry have reached the dock and have shot multiple fleeing people, the sight of Juan shot in the chest multiple times was the last thing he saw just before the heavy metal doors of the warship are closed and the sounds of bullets bouncing off the armored ship blanketed the quick silence after the doors where shut, almost like raindrops on a metal basin. The sight reminded him of his mother and Alexis began screaming and crying to open the doors so he could help Juan. There was many casualties in the dock alone and only 3 ships managed to sail away. Alexis was held back by the people on board the ship before he could burst his veins crying so loud. A familiar sound of OWCA dropships hovering above them filled the air. Aware of the dangers above, the people onboard get ready and arm themselves. Moments later the door was rigged with explosives and was blown wide open. Gun fire inside the ship erupted. The captain ordered the some men to move the the more heavily armored front of the ship, away from the fighting. Alexis was one of the unarmed and helpless men as the others fought with their lives. They all hid in the ships hull and waited for a miracle to happen.
The upper deck has been wiped clean and are now swarming with OWCA infantry. The bunker that was nearest to the entrance had fallen down and the remaining 7 OWCA spec ops proceed to search for the remaining civilians. The bunker that Alexis and the others where hiding in is now rigged in explosives and again blew wide open. But the remainder of the civilians fought well and ended up finishing off the remaining spec ops. 2 Ships remained as Santa Maria 4 sank after being shot by a tank shell. Alexis now at the breaking point, grabbed a fallen soldiers weapon and joined the others as they go and try to retake the deck from OWCA but they stopped him before they could enter the fight. "Mexican for no, stop right there, your not trained with guns, stay back with the others who cant fight and hide in the final bunker" Alexis nodded in defeat and ordered the others to come with him to the final bunker located near the ships propellers. He left himself behind to take the remaining supplies and bring them to the other bunker. He noticed one OWCA militant that was still alive and in a lot of pain. He remembered what his mother said in that faithful night..
"whatever happens to me, you must stay strong ok? You must learn to be helpful and sharing to others even if it means risking your life"
He helped lied him down properly on the floor. He was shot in the arm and was losing too much blood. Alexis, who learned advanced first aid from Juan, grabbed a couple of screwdrivers, pocket alcohol, pliers and a pair of scissors. He heats up the scissors, pliers and screwdrivers on a nearby burning table and proceeds to cut the soldiers skin with the hot but now sterile scissors. After the bullet was taken out by the help of the pliers (and after the guy was screaming in agony), Alexis then wrapped the wound in a his torn up shirt and helps him to stand up on his feet and took him to the remaining bunker. On the way to the bunker, the soldier asks Alexis, "Why did you help me? You could have just left me to die in agony. I don't want to serve OWCA any longer, they have destroyed the peace in this world." Alexis flashes him a smile "someone close to my heart once told me to help anyone in need, its great to know we're both on the same page. OWCA needs to go down once and for all" the soldier nodded in agreement, "What's your name?" he asked Alexis. "I'm Alexis" He replied. The soldier showed him his ID and told him "I'm Rick, nice to meet you." After introducing rick to the civilians in the bunker, a loud knock was heard outside the blast doors. "We secured the upper deck, its safe to go out now" in a muffled sound as the armed civilians were still outside speaking through the heavy door. The civilians rejoiced and celebrated with food and wine stocked up in the ship's winery. One man stood up and said "Next stop: Hawaii!"
