Ivy sat by the bleachers trying to fit in with the loud cheering crowd around her. Their team 'The Red Lincoln' had just won a match against their neighboring school by a large margin. She didn't understand much about the game and barely paid attention to what had been happening around her as she had only come for one thing, to watch her crush Henry Garner play. He was at the moment being lifted in the air by his team mates as they celebrated their victory by singing the school's anthem.
Then came the part she hated the most, frowning as she watched him jumped down after spotting his girlfriend, Bethany Parker and rushing to lift her high before giving her deep kiss in front of the whole audience. Ivy pulled her hoodie closer to her face to hide the tears that were threatening to spill, not like anyone would have noticed considering she was leaning against the wall near the back but she still didn't want to risk Dominic noticing her sudden shift in mood. He was seated next to her, cheering the team like the rest of the people before he turned to Ivy.
'Don't tell me you fell asleep at a moment like this.' He scolded, his hand reaching to shake her unknowing that she was wide awake secretly glaring at Henry who was leaving the field followed by his team mates.
'I'm awake. Let's go home.' She whispered and was surprised Dominic even heard her as he stood up pulling her behind him before people could start blocking the exits.
'We are going to the party at Wendy's.' He announced as soon as they were in the parking lot. Ivy's face paled.
'What? No. You know I don't do parties.' She pleaded standing next to Dominic's grey Subaru. 'Just drive me home and then you can go.'
'Come on Ivy. We are seniors and in a few months we will be out of this hell hole. Just come and see the interior of a party.' As far a Dominic knew, Ivy had never stepped into a party and she never bothered to correct him. She had actually crashed a few parties after experiencing sleepless nights to go spy on Henry and she also didn't want Dominic knowing that the only reason she even went to every football game was to watch Henry play and not her brother, who also played for the team.
'Please Nick. You know I can't stand crowds.' She sighed in frustration trying to ignore the puppy look he was giving her.
'You will be with me and if you don't like it after twenty minutes, I promise to take you home.' As much as Ivy wanted to say no she found herself nodding and in less than twenty minutes they were caught up in a bumper to bumper jam with all the people who were heading to Wendy's upscale home that seemed to hold most of the parties since their junior year. Wendy was Bethany's best friend and also head cheerleader who was surprisingly nice to Ivy despite her lack of popularity but she knew it was only because Wendy had dated her brother during their junior year.
Beside her Dominic cursed the traffic and parked the car down the road instead of wasting precious time trying to get closer the house. 'Let's walk. Wendy's house is only ten minutes away.' Ivy nodded even though Dominic couldn't see her as he had already stepped out of the car. Ivy knew the area well considering the many times she had snuck to the parties using her mother's car and was fortunate to never have ran into her brother.
