If Ivy had been under the weather for the past few day, Dominic didn't seem to notice and if he did he surely didn't care enough to ask. He had been spending time with Mariana Garza, a transfer student that he hadn't stopped talking about every minute they were together, much to Ivy's irritation. She was pretty with a nice athletic body and as much as Ivy wanted to be happy for him, she couldn't. He was the only close person in her life and if he started dating Mariana then that would mean less time for Ivy and in the end he would choose spending every waking moment with the girl, leaving Ivy all alone. She didn't want that and the thought repulsed her.
Ivy leaned against her locker, scowling at Dominic who was standing next to Mariana's locker laughing about something she was pointing on her phone and this made her jealously intensify. Dominic always waited by her locker and told her jokes even though she rarely laughed, it still comforted her knowing someone was right next to her making the extra effort to make her smile. She huffed, throwing her bag over her shoulder before heading to the courtyard suddenly not hungry anymore even though it was lunch break. It was as if Dominic was intentionally pushing her aside by making her wait for him knowing fully well he had no intention of leaving Mariana by herself.
The courtyard was empty as most people were indoors due to the light drizzle and she was tempted to go back in there and swallow her pride by sitting alone but she couldn't, that would give people a reason to make fun of her and she wasn't in the mood to be pushed around. She pulled the hoodie closer to her face and ran as fast as she could to the dry seat under an old tree in the middle of the court yard.
'Are you sure you should be taking shelter under a tree.' A familiar deep voice asked playful, joining her on the bench. She quickly looked up in shock, her breath hiking by how hot he looked with his wet hair clinging to his face. She silently watched him push his hair from his forehead before trying to dry his face using his palm. Ivy hadn't noticed that the drizzle had increased rapidly as she had been deep in her spy novel. It was a series of books that helped her secretly watch the guy seated next to her.
'I-I'm not wearing r-red.' She shyly joked making him raise an eyebrow.
'Your lipstick is totally red.' He commented with a chuckle and Ivy nervously touched her lips warmed by the fact that he noticed her lipstick. She also hadn't missed the little changes in him like how he had let his hair grow past his ears or how he had permanently claimed the seat next to her during history and always made an effort to talk to her despite her shy one-word replies. 'So why aren't you in the cafeteria?' He asked giving her book a curious look at which she quickly hid the cover.
'W-Wasn't hungry.' She shrugged hoping he couldn't see her lie.
'Oh. I see.' He nodded opening his backpack. 'So you don't want to share my tuna?' He raised an eyebrow showing her the sandwich that had been nicely wrapped. She knew Henry preferred to carry his lunch most of the time since he usually prepared a sandwich for his little sister in the mornings.
'Y-You will eat h-here with me?' Her eyes opened in disbelief when he took half, passing the other to Ivy. She had never been a fan of tuna but had started forcing herself to eat one when she discovered Henry loved it.
'B-But I'm not h-hungry.' She blushed despite the cold as the rain continued pouring around them a few drops dropping on them despite the well sheltering tree. She could see Henry was slightly shivering since he was only in a light sweater unlike her whose hoodie kept her warm.
'Come on. Don't make me eat alone.' He urged giving her a puppy look that made his blue eyes bigger and he just looked adorable. Ivy's hand twitched to get her camera and capture the moment up-close but she knew Henry might find it weird so she restrained herself by picking up the sandwich and taking a small bite. She moaned at the sweetness until Henry cleared his throat nervously, giving her a funny look.
