It took a couple of days for Ivy to relax and go back to her normal routine of watching Henry. Tony had put her on edge with his sudden one-eighty mood shift making her cautious and avoid him as much as possible. He smiled at her once in a while and that was something worth fearing.
She tried avoiding the crowd as she walked down the hallway hoping to get to her history class before the bell rang which was proving hard since most people barely noticed her as they bumped into her, never turning to apologize. She had never felt so relieved getting to class where most of the seats were taken but didn't look up as she religious walked to the back of the class where she always sat. She didn't share the class with Dominic which always meant having to sit alone but at least Henry was in this class and she passed her time drooling at him.
Ivy took a sharp breath as she stood frozen in front of her usual desk staring at the guy seated on the desk beside hers which was usually empty. He was busy on his phone and had not noticed her which made Ivy want to look for another empty seat. She couldn't handle sitting next to him and was already sweating and fidgeting yet Henry had not even looked up. Hesitantly, she sat down pulling her hood even closer to hide her face wishing she hadn't put her hair in a ponytail that morning so it would provide a veil on her face.
She heard him clear his throat next to her before he said hi to her. Ivy slowly looked up, their eyes connecting for a split second before she looked at her sweaty palms so as to hide her blush.
'Hi.' She softly replied, her fingers now interlaced before she quickly hid them under the desk on noticing how chipped they were. She was surely going to have to apply a new coat of black nail polish when she got home.
'You're Tony's sister, Ivy.' He said, waiting for her to look up again but she didn't. Her heart rate had already accelerated the minute he said her name and she had discreetly smiled knowing he remembered her name. She could feel his eyes on her as he waited for her to respond so slowly nodding she whispered a yes. She didn't want to embarrass herself but being next to Henry made her lose all her senses and she hoped Mr. Harley would hurry up and enter. As if her prayers had been answered, Mr. Harley entered shouting a loud sorry for being late and Ivy carefully removed her hood not wanting to be called out by Mr. Harley who had done so severally for covering her head in class.
Ivy smoothed her hair making sure there wasn't a hair out of place before opening her backpack to remove her notebook. She stole a peek at Henry whose face was already facing the teacher his eyebrows furrowed in concentration, something Ivy knew he did when he was deep in thought. What could he be thinking about? She wondered before quickly shifting her eyes to the front when he moved his hand to brush his blond hair from his forehead.
She couldn't concentrate all through the lesson as every move he made whether turning a page or rubbing his fingers seemed so interesting that she had to watch from the corner of her eyes. He didn't say anything else to her through out the lesson and Ivy felt relieved that she didn't embarrass herself knowing she had zero social skills and making herself look bad in front of her love was the last thing she wanted.
