Their lips had barely touched when Ivy felt Henry's hand push her face away, his face twisted in confusion and something else she couldn't decide if it was ... Disgust? She could feel the tears burn the edges of her eyes but controlled herself not wanting to admit that Henry had just rejected her because it would make things so real. She inhaled sharply, watching him put more distance between them.

'What were you trying to do? Do you like me Ivy?' His voice came out calm as if he were talking to a kid and that irked Ivy even more. 'I didn't know you felt that way about me.'

Ivy just stared blankly at him, pain written all over her face and before she knew it the first drop of the bitter tears was running down her face. Henry stared in shock running a hand through his hair. 'Y-You don't like me?' Ivy sniffled waiting for Henry to answer.

'I like you as a friend Ivy. I didn't know I had unintentionally given you the wrong idea about how I felt.' Henry sighed giving her a sympathetic look as Ivy tried to wipe away the stray tears that were free flowing by now.

'You are pretty and I'm sure you can find a better guy to be with. I'm just not ready to see anyone.' Ivy sniffled again as his words pierced her heart. She was tempted to tell him how long she had loved him but it was obvious the information wouldn't make any difference. Henry would just feel more pity for her.

'Y-You like Alice? Is that why you are re-rejecting me?' Ivy snarled as realisation hit her. She was the only girl who had been threatening Ivy over the past days and Ivy had decided to ignore her since Henry was showing interest in her but it was now clear Henry just felt pity for her.

'What? No. I don't like Alice. She is a pain and I suspect she is some crazy stalker.' Henry frowned remembering how Alice had becoming even more annoying and desperate. She had even followed him home one day in the pretence of wanting to be tutored maths.

'Yes you do! That's why you are rejecting me!' Ivy snapped standing from the bed. 'You like that slut! You like sluts like Bethany even though she slept with the whole football team but you still dated her!' Ivy didn't know where all that anger had come from but the adrenaline had pushed it all out of her system and Henry stared at her too mortified to speak. He had never seen Ivy raise her voice or look so angry, his current frozen state had given Ivy enough time to rush out of the room and by the time he followed her, still in a state of shock, she had already left the house.

He sighed. Ivy was really crashed and it was his fault. Why hadn't he seen the signs that she like him? He had been so engrossed in forming a friendship with the quiet, shy and reserved girl that he didn't realise he was leading her on. He had to come up with a solution before Monday.

'Tony. Where is Ivy? I haven't seen her since Friday?' Hannah, Tony and Ivy's mother asked as she pointed an accusing finger at Tony who mentally rolled his eyes.

'In her room.' He replied with disinterest as he continued chewing his food ignoring his mother's questioning look. It's not like he hadn't tried talking to her. Heck! He had been trying to get into her room since last night but she had it locked. Something must have happened when she went out Saturday afternoon because when she came back, her shell had returned.

'I thought she was starting to change. She was improving.' Hannah sighed, her eyes boring to Timothy, her husband who was quietly having his dinner. 'Did something happen?' Tony shrugged. He was also wondering the same thing.

'Maybe she eloped with some French guy and is currently sailing the seven seas because it's obvious she isn't in the house.' Alex joked from across the table before laughing at his own joke but the confused looks he was getting from across the table made him shut up. 'Awkward.' He mouthed before digging into his rice.
