Chapter 12

Ryan's POV

It feels like days have passed as I continue to fall. All this while is spent with me slipping in and out of consciousness. And whenever I am awake, my mind wanders off to think about... things.

Now is one of those times. And as I think further, it dawns on me that I might never be going back to my normal life. That I might forever be lost in this vicious clutch of the darkness and silence. Until I hear a noise. It's very dull and is coming from somewhere far, far ahead of me. But I surely do hear it.

I strain my ears in an effort to figure out what the sound is. The noise gradually turns into a series of muffled voices. Slowly and steadily it becomes louder. The louder the sound gets, the clearer it becomes. It reaches a point where I am able to make out some of the words. Words like alright, how, happened, two, days, brother, mine, Ry reaches my ears, as I try and make sense of them.

Slowly my surrounding lights up and my fall slows down. The voices now sound nearer and come from all around me.

Just then a shudder runs through my body, and I feel some life seep back inside me. An overwhelming feeling of regality and strength washes over me, and I finally feel my body's control back in my hands. In fact, everything seems to be back under control.

Suddenly, a blurred image appears out of nowhere in the softly lit area in front of me. Rapidly blinking my eyelids to clear the haze that's looming over my eyes, I try to make out the blurry figures that appear in my line of sight.

"Ryan," A familiar voice reaches my ears, and it feels like music to my ears to hear someone's voice after being trapped in silence for so long. Soon, many concerned voices fall in my ears, as the blurriness hovering above my eyes slowly recedes away.

I vaguely make out the concerned faces of Dad, Bennett and Meredith hovering above me. Lifting my head slightly, I look around and take in the familiar surroundings. I realise I'm in my bedroom. Tristan, Aunt Cora and Uncle Seb are standing a few feet away from my bed that I'm lying on. Looking past them, I see the back of a person's head, as he is looking out the window with his back turned towards me. I instantly recognise the brunette who has a striking resemblance to a certain wiz boy I have come to grow fond of.

Mr Albian LaGray.

Hearing the commotion behind him, he turns around and I'm met with a pair of intriguing eyes. The olive in them seems to light up at the sight of me, as he moves towards the bed to stand beside dad.

"Ryan," his deep yet soft voice helps me to get rid of the haziness surrounding me. I try to sit up and feel hands helping me to do so.

When I'm sitting upright, I roam my eyes at everyone's face and squint my eyes in confusion. A sudden pain rips from the back of my head, as I hiss in pain and rub the back of my throbbing head.

"What ha-" I start coughing up due to the dryness scratching off inside my throat. Someone rubs my back, and something is pressed up in the palm of my right hand.
