I woke up to my alarm screaming in my ear. I rolled over and tried to block it out. As I did this my mom came into my room as she does every morning. "come on Nessa you have to get ready." she coaxed. I reluctantly separated from my cozy bed and began my morning routine. My phone was going off in the process but I ignored it. Mornings were not my thing.
Once I was done getting dressed I moved into my bathroom to brush my teeth and brush out my long brown hair. I was semi wavy from the way I had slept on it last night. Normally I would throw it up in a pony tail but this morning I was too tired to even do that. I was done getting ready in about twenty minutes.
I slowly went down the stairs in the dark hallway and found my mom in the kitchen. She handed me my lunch which I stuck in my bag. I then sat on the couch for another ten minutes before I had to go out for the bus. I opened my phone to find out why it was so noisy this morning. I found a few messages from Jennie and of course a snapchat from Peter. The messages from Jennie were explaining that she was sick and wouldn't be in school today. Well at least I know she wont be annoying me about Peter and I. Then I went into snapchat. I opened the picture to see a once again shirtless Peter. He had sleepy eyes and ruffled morning hair. He looked very attractive to say the least. The caption underneath made me smile.
'morning! Sleep well?' he wrote. I took a picture of me in my darkened living room. I captioned it with a simple 'yep' and then closed my phone once again. I checked the clock to see it was time to go outside for the bus. I forced myself to get up and make my way out the door. I gave my mom a peck on the cheek when I passed through the kitchen again. Then I walked into the cool summer morning. It was a comfortable temperature outside which made me happy that I wore denim jeans with a white volleyball t-shirt. I knew it would only get hotter as the day goes on. I paired this with my favorite purple converse.
I saw the bus coming from down the street as I approached the stop. Perfect timing on my part. The bus rolled to a stop in front of me, making the breaks squeak loudly. I cringed at the noise but climbed onto the big yellow bus. The doors closed and I was on my way to school as I put my headphones in. Since I didn't have Jennie to talk to I had to find new ways to preoccupy myself this morning. I pushed play on my music and rested my head back on the seat. I let myself doze for a bit before I felt my phone vibrating in my hand. I looked to see it was Peter.
When I opened it there was a picture of him on the screen smiling. The caption under it read 'ready to get to work on this project today?' he asked. I sent a picture that you couldn't really see of me back to him saying I was. We talked a bit longer before my bus pulled up at school. I told him I had to go and shoved my phone in my pocket.
As I was walking into school I saw Peter a few people ahead of me but was thankful Jennie was here to say anything to him. I stayed silent and just made my way to my locker. I pulled out the right books I needed for biology and shut the red locker door. I walked past all the drousy students in the hall and finally reached my classroom. I sat in my seat and waited for the lesson to start.
When the teacher finally started the class I had a hard time paying attention. I kept thinking ahead to what would happen next period. I would work with Peter again for the entire period. I tried to think about which parts of the project we could try to finish today or at least get mostly done. There were about seven different things we had to do for the project. One of them was a timeline of events in his life. I thought maybe we could work on that today. Another one of the things we had to do was write a biography about his life. Similar to the timeline but also a little different. I figured we would work on that next.
As I was thinking of how we could go about getting the project done in the three remaining weeks I heard the bell ring. Apparently I was deeper in thought then I realized. I collected my books from under my desk and made my way back to my locker. Once I switched my books I started my walk across the school. While I was on my way I felt someone tap my shoulder. I turned to find Jack walking beside me.
