Chapter 6- What Happened Next

Dan's P.O.V

Ben, Phil, Maysie, and I run down the street while watching Adrian bend down, then he's pulled to the ground.

"Adrian, I got Dan, Phil, and Ben," Maysie shouts causing him to look at us running towards him. The guy lifts Adrian's head off the ground by pulling Adrian's hair.

"Nooo," I shout knowing what is going to happen next. He slams Adrian's head against the ground and stands up with a grin on his face.

"I'll find you one day Maysie, when you lest expect it," The guy calls causing her to stop. The runs away as we approach. Ben goes back and hold Maysie's hand making her start running again. We get to Adrian and I make sure he is still breathing. He is but very shallow. Phil is already on his phone calling the hospital. I place Adrian's head on my knee and start crying.

"Why you, Adrian, can't it be someone else," I cry holding Adrian. Maysie and Ben run up. Maysie puts her hands over her mouth amazed at how much damage Adrian had. Ben sat down next to me and started shaking Adrian's almost life less body trying to wake him up.

"Ben stop it, you'll hurt him," I tell Ben sternly, making him stop and stand up and go hug Maysie.

"The ambulance will be here in about five minutes," Phil tells me sitting down next to me trying to comfort me by hugging me and telling me to just cry. Rose started running down the street towards us. She stayed behind at first cause I was cooking a stir fry when Maysie came and got us, Rose said she would finish cooking and come find us if we weren't back by the time she had finished cooking.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no!" rose cried running up faster to us, "Adrian, no," She whispered to him hugging his body, "He's not dead," She said half thankfully and half sad he was still not awake. She joined mine and Phil's hug.

"You caused this," I said to Maysie standing up, "You're the reason Adrian got hurt! It's all because of you," I shouted at Maysie coming closer and closer, clenching my fists tighter with every step. Ben stood in front of Maysie, shielding her from me. Phil ran up to me to stop me.

"Dan, she's my sister, don't you dare lay a finger on her," Phil shouts at me as another shield for Maysie.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry," Maysie cries repeatedly. She is sitting on the ground hugging her knees hiding behind Ben. I instantly drop to the ground and start crying again. Phil comes down comforts me. He was always one of those people who take care of others before himself in a situation like this. Just then the ambulance pulls up. They put Adrian on a stretcher and take him into the ambulance. They check a few things to see what's happening and then asks Maysie what happened as she saw the most. I hop in the ambulance as only one person can go with him and I'm family so it seemed like the right chose. Phil said he will come if I text him.

We arrive the hospital, which I instantly hate, I have never been a fan of hospitals. I follow the medics into a room and what for they doctor. I wait about 5 minutes. I spend that 5 minutes just steering at Adrian. When the doctor comes in I'm asked to call mum and dad to come up as they are still his legal guardians. I pull out my phone and call home

"Hello," Mum says happily.

"Hi mum," I say trying to sound happy so I don't burst into tears.

"Dan, honey, what's wrong," Mum said her voice instantly becoming serous.

"Adrian's in hospital," I said with a tear dropping down my face.

"Dan please tell me this is so horribly cruel joke," Mum replied, her voice cracking.

"I'm sorry mum, it not," I say. I hear mum crying on the other end of the phone which causes me to cry.

"Dan?" Dad's voice comes on the phone.

"Yeah," I say confirming it me.

"What hospital are you at," Dad asks.

"I don't know, can I get the hospital to ring you," I say and burst into tears.

"Sure, Dan it will be ok. We will be there soon," Dad said before hanging up. I go to reception and ask the lady there to call my house. She also gave me a box of tissues. I text Phil that I need a friend right now and he is here in 5 minutes. the doctor comes through about 2 minutes after Phil arrived. He tells us that Adrian is in a coma, and that he has a broken jaw, ear drum, and two broken ribs. I cry as Phil takes me to Adrian's room.

At about 9 or 10pm, Mum and dad come into the room.

"Dan," Mum says pulling me into a hug, "It's going to be ok."

"But mum," I say before being cut off.

"Dan we know about Adrian and his injures," Dad said before pulling me into a hug. I cried into dad's shoulder. When dad let me go, Phil stood up and gave mum a hug and dad a hand shake. I sat next to mum and dad sat next to mum. Phil left the room to get something. Mum cried and dad and I comforted her and I tried not to cry.

Phil came back with a bag of Maltesers to make me feel better.

"Here you go," Phil said handing me the packet.

I gave them back, "They won't make me feel better," I said and Phil looked at me for a second with his mouth wide open as he was surprised. He then hugged me as I cried.

"I'm sorry Dan, I now know how hard this is for you," Phil apologised.
