As Midnight Draws Near

The Unexpected Ally: The Battle of His Life Part 2

     It seemed like it took forever for the coffins to open. The loud creaking noise it created spread across the battlefield. Everyone paused and watched in silence as the three coffin doors slowly crept open. What Naruto saw next could only mean one thing: his death.

     In the first coffin was a man, fairly tanned completion, he had on red samurai like armor. His silky brown hair went down his back and came to an end above his waist. Cracks were all over his skin and his eyes black, indicating he was a reanimation. He wore a Konaha headband. Under all of the armor he wore a standard black jonin pants and shirt.

     In the second coffin was a pale man with icy white hair and venomous red eyes. His gaze looked like it could kill. He wore the same clothes as the first man, except his armor was blue instead of red. He too wore a Konoha symbol on his head, except it wasn't a headband. It was almost like a piece of armor that went around his forehead and down to his cheeks.

     In the third coffin was a man Naruto knew all too well. He was on the older side, with a gray goatee. He wore a standard black anni shirt and pants. He had armored arm bands and he wore a helmet with the Konoha symbol on it.

     Each of these men gave of a feeling of absolute power. Naruto instantly knew that there was no way he could get out of this alive, for the three men in the coffin were the First, Second, and Third Hokages. They were some of the most powerful men to walk the shinobi world. 
 
     Taking a step out of the coffin, they came to life. " Tobirama! What are you doing here," The first hokage asked, surprised to the second hokage, now identified as Tobirama. "Elder brother, it's you! What's going on?" Tobirama replied to the first hokage, his elder brother. The third hokage, Hiruzen, was just as surprised. As Hiruzen looked around he saw everything that was going on. " Naruto?! What's going on?" Hiruzen questioned the boy. Immediately he saw Orochimaru's slimy face. " Hiruzen? You're here too? Why are we here?" Tobirama asked, still looking slightly puzzled. "It appears that my former student has found a way to reanimate us." Hiruzen answered. "I told you you should have never created that cursed jutsu Tobi," the first hokage added.

     "Hiruzen?" Minato looked. "Minato?! Kushina?! And Naruto!" Hiruzen screeched. "Who are those three Hiruzen?" Tobirama asked. "The reanimated ones are the fourth hokage and his wife. The one who's alive is their son." Hiruzen answered. "Woah, I can't believe the village lasted this long! Who's the current hokage?" The first said enthusiastically. "The fifth hokage is Lady Tsunade." Naruto spoke up. The enthusiasm on the first hokage's face quickly vanished. "Oh," was all he could muster up.

     All the while this was happening, Orochimaru was slowly, but surely, getting aggravated. "Enough!" Orochimaru spat, surprising everyone on the battlefield. "All this chit chat is a waste of time, it's time to do what I summoned you for. Naruto Uzumaki, prepare for your death!" Orochimaru venomously chuckled. All four hokage and Kushina launched at Naruto. Minato quickly explained what was going on, along with help from Hiruzen. Now with everyone caught up, they were horrified at Orochimaru's scheme.  
 
     Naruto jumped back, dodging an aerial punch from Kushina, followed by a giant fireball shot by Hiruzen. "Water style: Water wall!" Naruto countered, just barely stopping the fireball and causing smoke to scatter across the field. Visibility dropped so much that Naruto could barely see his hand in front of his face. Suddenly, Minato appeared right next to him slashing with his kunai. Naruto just barely dodged the fatal blow, but he got cut across his arm. The first hokage ran up punching Naruto across the face and sent him flying into the forest. Tobirama appeared behind Naruto sending off a wave of water. Naruto jumped up above it only to get slammed down into the ground by Hiruzen. As Naruto got up Minato appeared in front of him, rasengan in hand, and slammed it into Naruto's chest. Naruto coughed up blood, then fell to his knee, panting.

     Naruto stood up and did his famous hand sign. One thousand clones appeared around Naruto ready for a fight. As the clones and the reanimations went head to head, someone no one expected was heading to the battlefield, fast.

     Orochimaru summoned a giant snake which wiped ou the rest of Naruto's clones. Naruto quickly bit his thumb and summoned the great Gamabunta. "You signed the toad summoning contract! You're amazing Naruto!" Both Minato and Kushina shouted. Gamabunta quickly asserted the situation. "Chief, take care of Orochimaru's snake for me!" Naruto ordered. "Don't boss me around kid!" Gamabunta demanded as he drew his sword. Naruto too drew his sword against Orochimaru. Naruto entered an intense duel of the swords with Orochimaru. Each clash so intense, sparks could be seen flying. As Naruto parried Orochimaru's slash, he jumped up and kicked Orochimaru back. The four hokage jumped in front of Naruto each doing a series of barrages only to find out that Naruto substitute himself for a nearby log. He jumped out of the trees and thrusted a rasengan into Kushina's shoulder. Minato and Tobirama appeared next to Naruto and slashed at him with kunai. Fortunately Naruto blocked it with his sword and jumped back. All he could do was retreat from there attacks because they were too powerful.

     Then the hokages took it up another notch and fired a barrage of jutsu, which Naruto just barely managed to dodge. There were fire, water, and wind jutsu everywhere. For some reason, the first hokage wasn't using his wood jutsu. This showed that they weren't going all out, unlike Naruto. Suddenly, with Minato's Flying Thunder God, they surrounded Naruto. Minato, Hiruzen, and Kushina shot off their jutsu directly at Naruto. They couldn't bare to watch and closed their eyes. "He did well to survive against us this long," the first hokage stated, sorrow heard in his voice. Naruto, wasn't sure how to counter the jutsu and he figured it was the end. A huge explosion that could be seen from a mile away, and at the center Naruto.

     When the dust cleared, there was an unfamiliar chakra protecting Naruto. He was confused as to why he wasn't dead. Orochimaru and everyone else not the battlefield were wondering the same thing Naruto was.

     "It's okay now Naruto, help has arrived," a deep, familiar voice reassured Naruto. As he turned around, so many questions popped into his mind and what drew his attention most were those eyes, those unforgettable eyes. As there eyes made contact, Naruto couldn't help but wonder, 'Why is he here?! Is he really an ally, like he says, or did my odds of surviving just get 10 times worse!'

Alright guys that's it for this chapter! Sorry it took so long to get this on out but I got a writer's block and wasn't sure where to go with the story. Needless to say, I've pushed through it for now. It's almost summer and I'll be writing a lot more then, so look forward to that. Also, during the writer's block I found inspiration for another story where Naruto learns his father's jutsu at the beginning of the story, so check it out, I'll be publishing it soon.
