Chapter Two: The Change

*Winter's POV*

"Winter! Demi's here!" called my mom. I sat up.

"Coming!" I said. I ran down the stairs. I hugged my best friend. We're cousins too.

Anyway, I smiled at her.

"No school! No rules, no detentions!" she said. We high fived each other. I tossed my pale blonde hair and tied it into plaits.

I'm growing my hair. I want to get it past my knees. It's past my chest already. My eyes are a pale crystal blue. Mom calls me Opal sometimes because my eyes look like opals.

Demi decided to take a bath. Mom went to work so we were left by ourselves. I went to look in the mirror to see if my hair was a mess. It wasn't.

I stared at my reflection. Instead of a human girl stood in the mirror, I was a snow leopard. What?

I was freaking out. Why was I a snow leopard? I had white fur with black spots.

"Auntie Grace! What happened to me?" I asked.

Unfortunately, exactly at that moment, my body decided to turn back into a human. Stupid body.

Am I a shapeshifter or something?

After Demi came out of the bath I decided to have one myself. Tomorrow was the first day of the summer holidays. After September, we'd be home schooled. So we could relax. I didn't like school. Except for lunch time. The food was amazing!

I washed my hair, and when I came out of the bath, I shapeshifted again. This time Demi saw.

"Oh my god!" she said.

"What happened?"

"I'm a shapeshifter, obviously."

"Why?"

"I don't know why."

I changed back and then we went to bed. Mom came back from work and went to bed with Auntie Grace. I shifted every few hours. I ended up sleeping on the floor.

I got up. I was human again. Thank goodness. I looked at my phone. It was 4am. I sensed someone was watching me. I looked round. I wasn't at home. I was in a forest. I shapeshifted again. Where was I?
