I was surrounded by glistening ice and soft snow. I heard a deafening roaring noise and looked up to see a snow leopard leaping out of a tree.
"Who are you?" I asked. The leopard ran towards me, then stopped. Suddenly the leopard glowed brightly. I had to shield my eyes. When the glow stopped, I moved my arms down to my sides and I was face to face with a little kid, around 7 or 8. Her brown-red hair was sticking up and messy. She was wearing pyjamas and her hair was falling out of her pigtails.
"I'm Asta." she said, getting up.
"I'm Winter. Are you a shapeshifter?" I asked.
"Yes. Are you?" said Asta, smoothing her hair and grabbing a brush from her bag. Her hair was soft and silky and free from her pigtails.
"Yes." I said.
"OK. Then meet me outside your school." Asta replied.
"How do you know where-" I stopped.
"I live right across the road. I see you all the time." she insisted.
"See you." I said.
"Bye," said Asta.
"Make sure to come!"
"I will!"
Then it all went black.

I woke up sat on my bed. Where was Asta?
"Winter. You're going to Shapeshifter Academy." said Mom.
"What's that?" I asked.
"An academy for shapeshifters." Mom replied.
"Is Demi a shapeshifter?"I asked.
Mom paused for a moment, as if the thought of it turned her into a statue.
"She is. She shapeshifts into a wolf. It's very rare. 2% of shapeshifters are wolves. I'm a shapeshifter too. And your dad is. And your auntie." she explained.

I told Demi about Shapeshifter Academy. She thought it was cool. Then I told her that she was a shapeshifter.
"I'm a wolf?" she asked.
"Yes." I said.
Mom logged onto the computer later that day and showed us both the school. There were six levels (classes) and ten floors (Demi and I gasped at that bit).
"Why are we shapeshifters?"
"It's in your DNA." Mum simply said. Demi and I started to sing the Little Mix song DNA.
"It's serious."
"Serious?"
