Kirshnik 'takeoff' Ball

It felt like we didn't sleep all weekend. We stayed up day and night recording in my room and we only came out when my mama called us to eat. When it first started off Quavo said I didn't have to be on the song but before I knew it I was wearing the headphones and recording my own verses. We worked the whole weekend and after all the recording and all the arguing we came out with one song that we liked to perform. We only practice a couple times and I listened to my part almost every day. I'm not gonna lie I'm nervous as hell and I didn't want to get up there and make a fool of myself. It felt like the closer the show got the more the buzz grew. Every time I turned the corner somebody was telling me that they couldn't wait for the show and that they was excited to see us do our thing.

The show was after school and after the last bell rang I met Quavo and offset in the hallway to the auditorium. We had to sound check the song and let Mr. Marks the drama teacher listen to make sure that the version we submitted didn't have any cursing in it. After everyone was done sound checking and they tested the lights they opened the doors and started letting people come in and sit down. I was standing near the side of the stage looking at all the people that were coming in. this rom never felt as big as it does with all these people in it. I found Trina sitting in the front with her friends. When she saw me she waved but I ignored her. She flips like a fish outta water, one minute she hate me the next she blowing up my phone. I stood there scanning the crowd and that when I saw someone who I'd never thought I'd see. Maggie and her little sister walk down the aisle and sat down in the middle section near the front.

"Why she here?" I asked out loud.

"Who," Quavo asked.

"Cry baby and her sister," I answered.

"You know the thumb sucker is on the dance team and they opening the show." Quavo said.

"Oh," said let go of the curtain and let it fall closed.

"Who is maggie? You're piece?" offset asked.

"Bruh no," I replied.

He threw his hands up. "sorry, I was just asking."

After everybody filed into the auditorium the music started and Mr. Marks and some girl, the class president or whoever, walked on the stage to start the show. It was so corny, they was making jokes and shit like they was hosting the Grammys and not a high school talent show. They announced the dance team and that's when everything started to roll. Each person for 4 minutes to do their thing and let the crowd react. I never noticed before but it's some weird ass kids that go to this school. This one dude, they call him white Marcus, cause he's white and his name is Marcus, got on stage and did this whole rock song. He was screaming and he had on a cape and he was wearing black lipstick. The shit was weird. One girl sang, then there was a dance group, a dude that was tryna Trey Songz all the girl in the front row; he took his shirt off and Mr. Marks stopped his whole set.

"What, what do you guys call yourselves?" Mr. Marks asked us. he was getting ready to walk out on stage and introduced us and he didn't even know our names. To tell the truth we didn't have one either.

"Uhhh," offset turned and looked at us. "The three...."

"The three amigos." Quavo spat out. Mr. Marks made a face.

"No, no it's migos....just call us the migos." I said. He nodded then took the stage again.

"Oh shit I almost forgot." Quavo went into the book bag he was wearing and pulled out a shirt and two scarves. "Here, put this on. "

"Is this shit real?" I asked looking at the button down silk shirt he just handed to me.

"Man fuck no, you think I got money for all that." He said. "I looked all over and found a place that does imitation shit for the low and it look just like the real thing." He slid a belt around his waist then tucked the scarf into his pocket. I slipped the button down shirt over the plain white t-shirt that I was wearing and left it open in the front, and offset wrapped his scarf around the mic. and his hand

"You nervous?" I asked them.

"Yeah," offset confessed.

"A little bit but we gone show em." Quavo replied with a confident smile.

I heard Mr. Marks announced our names and the crowd started to cheer. We walked out and spoke into the mics to make sure that they were on. The lights was so bright that I couldn't really see nothing past them, only a few faces. I didn't know what to do so I just stood back and waited for the music to start.

Magdalyn 'Magic' James

I was sitting through what had to be the poorest excuse for a talent show that I've ever seen all to support Jam and the dance team. I was relieved when the host came out and said that there was only one more act left. I was more than ready to go. He said it was a rap group and they called themselves the migos. What kind of stupid name is that? I looked over at Melody and I could tell by the look that she was giving me that she was thinking the same thing. I looked back up as the artist walked on stage and I swear I wanted to laugh. Kirshnik, Quavo, and their other cousin, I can remember his name, walked onto the stage. Quavo was confident and his cousin was at least trying to look comfortable, but Kirshnik looks like a fish out of water. He was just kind of stand back watching the other two as they waited on the music.

"Man, I want all of yall to get out yall seat and rock wit us one time!" Quavo said just as the music started.

I can't lie the song was nice, even though the sound system in this auditorium is shit. Quavo was up first and it was like his energy was infectious. He was bouncing to the beat and everyone was dancing right along with him.

Everyone was up out their seats and crowding the stage like it was really a concert. The crowd was loving it. Kirshnik walked to the front of the stage and crouched down there in front of the crowd. It all looked so natural for them, and the energy just flowed. He was looking nervous when they first stepped on stage but right now there was a fire in his eyes. Offset came forward and took everything a step further. He jumped off the stage and right into the small mosh pit and was rocking with the crowd. Quavo and takeoff hopped off stage and joined them.

"Wow, they're good." Melody shouted over the music. I nodded.

They worked their way through the crowd to the stairs that led up to the stage and finished off the last hook there. When the song ended the crowd erupted into cheers. They called it a talent show but basically it was a popularity contest, and they just won it hands down. The hosts and judged didn't even take a chance to deliberate they brought the trophy right on stage and handed it to them. Offset took it and held it up in the air and everyone started to cheer again.

"if they weren't before it looks like they're the most popular guys in the school now," melody said to me. I shrugged, that's not really a matter that involves me cause I don't go to school here. We had to hang around after the show and wait for Jamira to come out of the auditorium and as soon as she stepped out the only thing she wanted to talk about was their performance. I'll admit it was good but everybody was acting like they just saw the second coming of Christ and it was just a song about a clothing brand.

"Man, and they was all draped in Versace too. I didn't know they had money like that." Melody said.

"It could be fake." I said.

"You're like a professional wet blanket huh Maggie?" Jamira asked me. I shrugged again.

"Well what high school kids with no jobs do you know that has enough money to buy that stuff?" I asked her.

She rolled her eyes at me. "I'm just saying....you know I never really noticed how cute offset was until tonight."

"Oh geez, here we go." I said rolling my eyes.
