Kirsnick 'Takeoff' Ball

I held two plane tickets in my hands turning them over to the back then back to the front side as if the names on the ticket would change. I had to do something but I didn't want it to be this. I'm tired of putting the people I care about in harm's way but I have no other choice. I have to put them in danger in order to protect them from something that I brought into their lives. If it wasn't for me and the stupid shit that I did back then I wouldn't have to make these decisions right now. Maggie had accepted the tickets after I had to ensure her that I wasn't joking about her and her cousin coming with us. After all these years and everything that we went through she still thinks that I don't really like her. She still thinks that I don't really care.

"If you actually did care would you be doing this right now?" I asked myself aloud. I looked up into the bathroom mirror at myself holding the plane tickets in my hands.

'all you gotta do is have her carry the bag back, but make sure she doesn't know what in it. A person like that doesn't need to know about stuff like this.' Lavelle's instructions echoed in my ears as I walked out of the bathroom and back into the rush of the airport. We were meeting Maggie and her cousin here because the guys and I were coming straight from another show so they meeting us here to make everything easier.

Lavelle said I needed someone green and she was perfect; no criminal history and if you looked at her you would never think that she would be tied to a nigga like me. We're flying there together but they're going to leave on an earlier flight than us so that if we run into trouble going back they won't get stopped along with us.

This is it. This is going to end it all and my family will be free of him forever. After I make this last drop off for him I'll be free to live my life without him interfering in anything that I have going on. I looked over and watched Maggie peering out the window at the clouds around us. The only thing that we could see were clouds and under that, there was nothing but water.

"why are you so quiet?" I looked away from the window and Maggie was looking right at me.

"What do you mean?"

"you're all zoned out. Like you're thinking really hard about something." She sat back in her chair.

"I'm thinkin about this trip....bet you never been to a place like this before huh?" I asked her.

She smiled a little. "no I haven't."

"And I bet you would have never thought that I would have been the one taking you."

"Did you?" She asked.

"what do you mean?"

"you said that way back then you liked me....did you actually think that you would get a chance?" She asked.

"I figured that there was less of a chance after you gave me a bloody nose and the fact that I got picked up and shipped away didn't make things any easier." I shrugged. Honestly, when that happened I didn't think I would see any of them again. I remember seeing the look on my mom's face as she chased the police van down the street until she couldn't keep up anymore. The sadness in her eyes broke me. In that moment I lost touch with the real world and I lived in a fog for years after that. I met Lavelle soon after I was released and sent to live with my father's sister because my mom didn't think that I neighborhood was safe for me anymore. If only she would have known that I was the danger, not the neighborhood.

An announcement came over the loudspeaker for us to fasten our seatbelts because we were approaching our destination. When we got off the plane there were people around taking pictures and paparazzi snapping pictures and asking us questions. All this attention and he wants me to stick my neck out to do this shit for him like I'm still some middle school kid with no interest in going to school and a guardian that did give a damn if I did or not.

"I'm happy that you chose to come along," I said to her after we were in the van on our way to the hotel.

She nodded. "yeah....I'm glad I did too."

"Let's go! I'm ready to get to the beach. Fun in the sun and the girls with the buns!" Quavo called out from the row behind us. That's all he was worried about, watching ass on the beach when we still have to work while we're on this trip.
