You jolted up and screamed. "NO! STAY AWAY FROM ME!" A nurse next to you held your now flailing arms down. "Miss (L/n), please calm down!" Your breathing still overdid itself and you looked around the room. You were in the same nursing tent as Lafayette. You apologized for your yelling and your eyes loomed over Laf's body.

"He is... gonna be okay, right?" You asked. The nurse nodded. "He was awake just a few minutes ago eating bread. He must still be tipsy." You agreed. "Why am I here?" The nurse looked at your leg. "It turns out you had not only poison ivy, but many thorn cuts on your leg. I patched it up with a bit of bandages and applied more of them to your head." You thanked her for her kindness and lied down on your side, facing Laf. You just sort of stared at him again.

In your mind you were continuously apologizing for everything. He was not awake, so you didn't bother to say it now. You felt your eyelids become heavier, but you were too scared to let them fully shut.

Lafayette's eyes quickly opened and you jumped back. "Laf what the hell!?" You said. He chuckled. "What? I didn't do anything." You pouted. "You were pretending to sleep, weren't you?" He threw his hands up. "Caught me red handed. Why so mad?"

"Because I was worried about you!" You blurted out. You looked at the blanket you had and held it between your fingers. A light blush over came your face after Lafayette spoke. "Worried about little old me? Aw. You're so cute!"

"Yeah yeah, can it fluffball." He smirked and cocked a brow. "Who gave you permission to talk back to your commanding officer?" You turned to him. "Uh, you did." Laf's smirk fell. "No I didn't." You were confused. "But the letter I found said that you appointed me to be in charge."

"What letter? After John lashed out at me, I completely blacked out." You felt a weight on your chest. 'So it's true.. John is the traitor.. wait, he didn't write it!??' "Does that mean John did?" Laf nodded. "I suppose."

"I'm so sorry for talking back to you sir." He smiled. "It's quite alright, but we do need to do something about Johnny boy." You frowned. "Why would he do this.. He is so nice.. The pieces just don't fit.." laf did his best to comfort you. He shifted in his blankets and gave you a hug, to running his hands through your hair. It felt nice, but you were terrified that John would come to get him again.

You politely stopped Laf, explaining why. "Oh, right.." "I'm sorry Lafayette, but I just don't want you getting hurt again." He nodded in an understanding way. He lied back down but just looked at the ceiling. "You do realize what we have to do when we find John, right?" Lafayette asked.

You sighed and replied, "Yes. I wish it wouldn't have came to this though." He agreed. While it was true that John would have to be executed for treason, no one in the army was willing to do it. "Mademoiselle, I would like to ask for you to do the execution."

Your eyes widened. "Me? I can't! He was my boyfriend, I could never kill him!"
"You two were lovers, but you will not forgive whoever kills John. So, you need to do it yourself." Rage circled in your head, but it washed over. "I understand sir. Do you think you could set out soldiers to retrieve him?" The nurse cut in. "Um, Miss (L/n), I don't think that would be a very good idea. Many of our soldiers have gone missing and presumably are dead due to him." Lafayette hushed her.

"We will send some of them to find him. I will join and so will you and Hercules." You flashed back to your dream. Both Laf and Herc were dead, and Alexander blamed it on you. "I don't think I can do this. What if he kills you two?" He brushed it off. "We are willing to do anything to have America win this war. If John must be stopped, then we will stop him. You nodded and hugged Laf. "This may be the last time we get to see each other outside of this thing that John has started. I just want to say, thank you for all of this, Sir."

He smiled and patted your back. "Oh, (Y/n). You're so sappy." He teased. You were about to push him playfully, but you then remembered that he was your commanding officer, so that would not be a very good idea. You rolled your eyes and stood up. Your head pounded at the quick movement and your legs wobbled due to the cuts and poison ivy. Lafayette leaned forward to help you just in case you fell. Luckily, however, you stood up straight and gave him a big smile.

"Are you sure that you are stable enough to lead?" You asked. He smirked. "Of course I am stable enough, petite dame! I am a man after all!" You cocked you brow and gave him and side ways glance. Sweat started to form on the top of his forehead. "N-not that women aren't strong or anything!" You giggled as he stuttered and made the situation more awkward then it had to be. "It's alright, Laf. No need to get your panties in a knot." He blushed and his eyes were wide open, focusing his full attention on you. "Ahem. Yes! No more of this, how you say, stuttering. Let us rally up our men and get a move on!" He said with his head held high and chest puffed out.

"Yay." You said in an unenthusiastic tone. It didn't take very long for you two to gather the men you would bring. Lafayette's booming voice helped with the round up and no man in the troop could say no to a lovely lady such as yourself.

Once everyone was gathered, Lafayette explained the circumstances to them. "As you all know, many men have gone missing and/or have been murdered. However, fret not! We have discovered that the traitor is none other than our dear friend, John Laurens." Many faces grew unhappy after hearing that the man as reckless but as witty as Marquis de Lafayette, had gone against his country. "I know that it is not pleasant to know that me must track down and slaughter our dear comrade, but for the sake of America and for you and your families, we must kill John.

A/n: Sorry for not updating! Since school is over for me, hopefully I can update more often. Something that may also be in my way though is The Wattys. Yes, I'm going to enter The Wattys. I would enter this story, but I think it's a bit too morbid for that. At least it will be more morbid down the road. I will, however, be making a romance story that will be placed in the 1800s! Well.. Sort of. You'll just have to wait and see! I'm sure you guys would enjoy what I'm going to enter in the contest. Again, sorry for being such a slow poke. Especially at THAT CLIFFHANGER THO. Anyways, have a great day/night!
