I take a sip of my iced coffee, and I notice that he's just staring at me. Except, he's not staring at me weirdly, he's staring at me like he needs to ask me something, but at the same time he has no idea how to put the words together to form that question.

I feel the same way. I feel like I suddenly forgot how to put any words together in order to form a sentence.

After about 60 seconds, I finally remember.

"Josh, do you even care about the rest of town? or do you just want to go pick up some sandwiches across the street and hit the park?"

My face is red, either this room is really hot or I'm just nervous that he'll say no.

"I'd love that, Tyler."

Awesome.

We both get up out of our seats, and push in our chairs. Walking out of the store and to the sub shop across the street, Tyler turns towards me.

"There's something about you, Dun."

He thinks I'm weird.

He just wants to be friends, nothing more.

He doesn't like me.

"I-is th-that bad?" look who's stuttering again.

"Of course not! I mean it in a good way," Oh thank god, "I like you Josh."

"Well thanks, Tyler. I like you too."

That sounded way too platonic. Oh no, maybe he meant it in a platonic way. He probably wants to only be friends.

//TYLER//

(Same scene, just different perspective)

"I like you Josh." I say, hopefully he didn't take it in a friendly-way. I know what I meant, but does he?

"Well thanks, Tyler. I like you too." So maybe he did understand what I meant

We enter the sub shop and order our sandwiches.

Josh orders a BLT on rye bread, and I order a turkey, lettuce, and tomato on white bread.

Josh walks out of the shop, with me trailing behind.

I pick a spot in the park. It's on a big rock, on the edge of a small cliff. My legs dangle, and I see the crumbs from my sandwich fall down to the bottom of the cliff, just a few feet below my legs.

I look over at Tyler sitting next to me, his eyes fixated on one spot in the distance, where there are houses and then just a blurb of never ending tree tops.

Tyler looks at me. He notices that I've been looking at him for some time now, and he smiles.

He smiles a little smile, one where the sides of his eyes crinkle a bit.

"Can I help you, Josh?"

"No, just looking."

"Well what're you looking at?"

"You."

We both pause a moment, before Tyler speaks again

"Why is that?"

Well for starters, he's cute

He's adorable actually

"I don't know."

That isn't what I wanted to say, but for some reason that's what came out. Maybe because of the fear that I'd lose a friend I've just so recently met.

"Well I don't mind." Tyler says. He smiled a little bit while saying that.

we both turn our attention over to the view in front of us.

I break the silence, "I'd like you to come over to my house tomorrow. that is if you don't w\have to work or anything."

"well lucky for you, I have tomorrow off."

"Perfect."

After about ten more minutes of talking and eating our sandwiches, we get up and walk over to Tyler's car.

we drive home, talking about town and hobbies, as well as singing along to lots and lots of songs. It's crazy how much we have in common, especially our music taste.

we pull up to my driveway, right across from Tyler's. My house in desperate need of a paint job and some landscaping doesn't look nearly as good as his.

"Thank you for bringing me around town today, I had a great time. seeing this small town was a lot more fun than I expected it to be."

"Well thank you for letting me show it to you!"

I grab his phone, immediately going into the contacts app and typing in my number. I add my picture for the contact just for fun, because who doesn't love an ugly picture of their friend to use against them in the future? That might just be me, but I think it's funny.

"Oh okay just take my phone would you." he says, laughing in between every few words.

Without saying anything else, I toss his phone back over to him, he almost drops it.

I walk up my front stairs, and turn around a bit, to see if he's still looking. He is, so I give him a little wave good bye. I don't mean to, but for some reason I wink at him. oops.

He winks back, and walks away.

••Don't forget to vote! You don't have to, but I'd like that. It's up to you. Ok I'm gone now.••
