••also I may or may not be listening to forest on repeat which is why the title is forest and where I got the idea for this chapter ok now bye••

I go over to pick up my phone off of my bed. I recently gave my number to Tyler, and he hasn't texted me yet.

He's probably just busy.

*ring*

Unknown number: Hey It's Tyler

Josh: Oh. Its you.

-read-

Josh: just kidding  just kidding

Tyler: yea yea alright well I have a question

Josh: Fire away

Tyler: After I go to your house tomorrow, I'd like to show you something

Josh: Deal. Now what is the something you'd like to show me

Tyler: Well If I told you, It wouldn't be a surprise, would it?

Josh: I'll see you tomorrow then.

Tyler: see you

--Next day--

*doorbell rings*

Ok Tyler's here, act normal, act normal.

"Hey Ty!"

"Ty?"

"Oh I don't know i didn't mean to say it I just-"

"No," he says, interrupting my rambling "I like that."

"o-okay good."

"Can I come in or should I just stay on your step?"

"O-o-oh I'm so s-sorry come in" I say, stepping out of the way and opening the door a bit more so he can enter.

"I know you haven't been here for very long but it already looks like you're nearly done unpacking."

"Yea when I first got here I tried to do as much unpacking as I possibly could, plus I don't have very much furniture" I say while I awkwardly scratch the back of my neck.

"Looks good."

"Thanks"

I find out that Tyler also loves Mario Kart, so I go through one of the many boxes in my bedroom and find the Wii with two controllers. I plug in the Wii and insert Mario Kart into the machine. 

We end up losing track of time, and play Mario Kart for nearly two hours.

I was shocked when I found out how amazing he is at Mario Kart. But no one is better than I am, so of course I came in first place nearly every round.

After nearly an hour and a half of Wii, Tyler puts down his controller and turns to me.

"Would you like to see the 'something' that I wanted to show you?"

"of course, I've been trying to think about what it might be for a while now."

We both put down our controllers and make our way down the stair and to his car.

Once we step outside, the wind cuts through my brightly colored mess of hair, and Tyler's mahogany brown hair. His hair looks so soft.

We drive through all the back roads of Columbus Ohio, where the difference between the road and the dirt trails around us show hardly any difference. The speed of the car blending together all of the tall trees around us.

  The car finally makes a stop at a dead end in the middle of the woods, we are completely surrounded by trees, and the only thing behind us is a road of gravel and dirt.

"Wow Ty, you brought me to a forest."

"It's more than just a forest Josh, follow me." He says with a very serious look on his face

we walk down a trail of rocks and gravel, I see a structure up in a tree with orange and red flames painted on it.

"This is my treehouse that I built with my friends when I was in eighth grade. It caught on fire once, and that's why we painted flames on it. we were able to put out the fire, but we didn't go in it much afterwards. Now I just come here sometimes to think."

"this is a hella cool tree house Ty, I would've killed for something like this back at home."

"Want to go inside?"

"yea!"

We both climb up the ladder to a platform woven into the branches of the tree.

Tyler turns to me, with his head held low

"Josh, I need to tell you something else,"
