Over lunch, Ella brings up the subject of the camp out.
"Dad, are we all set to sleep out overnight tomorrow?" She asks.
Her dad pretends to think about it.
"Well, the last time we left you girls alone,
You got swept out to sea."
Ella holds up a finger.
"Objection," she says.
"First, we did not get swept out to sea.
There are no passages to the sea through this lake
Unless you climb over the dam.
Second, we were perfectly fine,
And this time we'll be 100 feet away from the house."
Her dad smiles.
"You make a pretty convincing argument.
Also, I'm just kidding.
Everything's all set.
