When I left school, I drove to a hair salon and got my hair cut even. Riker had snipped it off in many different, jagged lengths. Now my hair was all even and shoulder length. I drove back home, and slammed the door behind me. I opened up the fridge and found a tub of chocolate chip ice cream and a spoon. I laid down on the couch and started to watch ABC family. I dove into the ice cream and moaned at its amazing flavor. I continued to eat and watched television until I got a phone call. I pressed the phone to my ear.
"Hello?" I said eating more ice cream.
"Marilyn, where are you? You missed this huge fight!" Hanna exclaimed on her end. I sat up in shock.
"Who was it between and why?" I wiped some ice cream that had dripped onto my mouth with my shirt.
"Riker and Lucas were fighting. Lucas said something about how Riker needs to stop being so rude to you and Riker attacked him!"
"Oh my gosh. Can you meet me at the park in five? School's out right?"
"Yeah. I'm on my way." The second the line went dead, I turned off the t.v. and put the ice cream back in the freezer. I sprinted to the park and found Hanna. When she saw me she gasped and ran up to me.
"I'll explain later." I said, knowing she was gawking at my hair.
"Okay, so here's what happened." She took a sip of her slushy and flipped her auburn hair over her shoulders. "So Lucas went up to Riker after he saw you weren't at school, and was like 'You need to stop treating Marilyn like shit!' and Riker said 'Stay in your own business!'. Then, Riker just jumped in Lucas, pounding his face and torso. Lucas got Riker off and the two started to hit each other, cracking knuckles and everything! Here, I got it on tape." Hanna pulled out her phone and showed me the video. I gasped and covered my mouth when the two boys started to pummel each other.
"Oh my god." I gasped.
"Now, Riker's in the hospital. Lucas punched him in his temple, knocking him out. Someone said he has a pretty bad concussion." Her phones dinged. "Damn, I gotta go. See you." I hugged Hanna and we headed our separate ways. I drove to the hospital and walked in. As I made it to the secretary, she looked at me and rolled her eyes.
"Um, excuse m e. Can I know what room Riker Lynch is in?" I asked sweetly, with a smile. She sighed angrily and typed furiously at her keyboard.
"He's in 364 on the third floor." She said and waves me away.
"Okay, damn." I said the last part under my breath. I hurried to the elevator, eager to get away from her. I pushed the three and the elevator took off. I stepped out and looked around, and found a sign that read, "Rooms 350-365." I traveled the hallway and found his door and I knock softy.
"Come in." I heard from the other side. I walked in and saw Riker, relaxing in his bed, with a bowl of jello on his tray. His face was cut, a bandage wrapped around his head. "Why are you here?" He spat.
"I want to know why you got in a fight over me Riker." I sighed as I go over to the side of his bed. I put my purse in a chair and motioned to his bed side. "Can I sit?" He nodded and shoveled jello in his mouth.
"Riker you can't avoid telling me," I popped all my knuckles. "I know it was you who cut my hair. And I'm not mad at you. Well, I'm not as mad at you as I should be but, that's not why I came here. I came here so you can tell me why you'd fight over me if you hate me!"
"Okay," He sighed and put his bowl down. His bare chest had bruises on his, and I pinched my self to keep from looking at his beautiful abs. "I don't really hate you. In fact, ever since I met you that time in sixth grade, I had this major crush on you." My jaw dropped, but I then quickly closed it as butterflies filled my stomach. "I know it sounds crazy but I did and I still do. I never knew how to express my feelings, and I thought that liking someone would make me a nerd."
"Riker," I started but he cut me off.
"Just listen please. I like everything you do, it all just drives me crazy. When you walk, and your hips find a rhythm to sway to. And, I like how when you smile, one dimple dances on your right cheek. Not to mention when you smile, it drives me crazy." I blushed and looked down. I couldn't believe he was saying all these things to me.
"Marilyn, I know I'm a jerk, and I'm sorry for being one. Lucas is right, I'm a monster. I should've never hurt you or embarrassed you." Riker's voice cracked as he began to cry. "I'm sorry I messed up. I'm sorry for ruining your life."
"Riker, you didn't ruin my life, completely. I'm sorry that I was the cause of you having to be hurt the way you did. But there is one thing I'm going to need you to understand," I raised his chin so he could look at me. "I'm here if you need me." I wiped his tears with my thumb and kissed his cheek, something shocking to us both.
"Thank you Marilyn, for putting up with me." I laughed and dug around in my purse for some tissue. I handed it to Riker and he smiled weakly. "Thanks." He used the tissue and he wiped his eyes.
"No problem." As I sat down in a chair, Riker's entire family bursted through the door. Stormie runs to his side and so does Mark.
"Riker, thank goodness you're okay!" Momma Lynch cried out.
"What were you thinking, son? You could've been even more hurt!" His dad scolded.
"Dad I'm fine!" Riker whined.
Ross saw me and sat on my lap, winking at me. "Hey hotness. Love the new hair." He stroked my hair and I just let him stay on my lap. The little guy was starting to grow on me, actually. "I knew you loved me. I'm mean, c'mon look at these guns." He stands up and shows off his muscles that aren't there.
"Easy there, tiger." I rolled my eyes and stood up, grabbing my purse. "I should get going, I don't want to be intruding. I'll talk to you later Riker." I waved one last time and stepped out of the room, bumping into someone as soon as I exit the room.
"Watch where you're going, bitch." She growled. I looked at her and recognized her as Riker's girlfriend. She had on a pair of booty shorts, and a sports bra that look too small.
"Sorry, I was just leaving." I rushed off to the elevators and out of the hospital.
