Unfinished Yesterday

Starting All Over Again

(Paula's P.O.V.)

"I beg your pardon?" I asked him nervously hoping na ibahin niya ang tanong.

"I know you heard it Paula." I looked at him still confused with his question."How much do you hate me?"

I laughed nervously " Honestly why are we having this topic? Is this about what happened in the Agriculture's Office? I sat poisedly in front of him.

He looked at me and tried to read my expression. In the past,he was so good on reading what was on my mind but not now. I already mastered  the art of poker face .

I also looked at him not backing down. Two can play this game.

He picked the telephone and pressed a number"David I am taking a leave today. I will have to settle a very important matter. Re-schedule all my appointments today" Nagulat ako sa sinabi niya but I stayed quiet. He put the phone down"We need to talk Paula and the office is not the right place to settle personal matters. Let's go somewhere else."

"Still the "Righteous man" ha."I hold my bag and stood up "But I am sorry Mayor Villegas but I  don't know what part of your personal matter concerns me". I walked out in the office and when  I arrived in the secretary, I gave him the folder with the papers that needed the signature of the mayor.

"David please call me at this number if the papers are signed already by your Mayor. If there are questions,feel free to ask me also ." Naramdaman ko na nasa likod ko na si Vince.

"David throw that calling card right now" utos nito sa naiipit na secretary na agad namang sinunod. He stands in front of me "Lady, don't you dare walk out on me ever again and don't turn your back when I .."

I defied his order and nilampasan siya. Hindi pa man ako nakatatlong  hakbang nang maramdaman kong hinawakan niya ako sa braso at hinihila patungo sa sasakyan niya.

Sinubukan kong pumiglas but mahigpit ang hawak niya sa braso ko. Pinagtitinginan na naman kami ng mga tao.

"This is harassment mayor" kalmado kong sabi nang naipasok na niya ako sa sasakyan. Kung dati to malamang nambato na ako ng gamit sa kanya but I won't give him that satisfaction​.

"Then sue me"hamon niya na pinaandar na ang sasakyan. I decided to keep quiet. I got my earphones and listened to the music. I will kill him with my silence.

Pinatakbo na niya ang sasakyan at ipinikit ko ang mga mata ko para kumalma. Nararamdaman ko na sinusulyapan ako ni Vince. I didn't frown nor smile. I kept my poker face.

After 20 minutes of traveling ,naramdaman kong huminto na ang sasakyan. I scanned on the place at nakita kong nasa restaurant kami na nasa elevated na area. Halatang bagong bukas pa lamang.

He opened the door in my side. I still ignored him kahit pinababa na niya ako. He grabbed my phone and my earphones.

"Hanggang ngayon you still have your tantrums. Pwede ba Paula stop the childish act and get down the car."

Itinulak ko siya para makababa ako"I am childish."pointing myself " Look who's talking? Do you think dragging me here against my will made you mature? Among the two of us you are the immature one. I don't even know why are you doing this. You are wasting my time. I am supposed to be working now at idinamay mo pa ako sa paglalakwatsa mo?"litanya ko sa kanya.

May idadagdag pa sana ako nang makita ko siyang nakangiti na. Nababaliw na ata ang lalaking ito.

"That was the longest sentence you said simula nang magkita ulit tayo. But you surprised me kasi kahit alam kong naiinis ka na natuto kang magtimpi". I raised my eyebrow na hinilot naman niya. Muntik na akong mapatalon sa gulat.
