Unfinished Yesterday

The Truce

(Paula's P.O.V.)

I tried to remain calm nang makita ko ang isang bagong-bago na black and white jetski sa harap ng resort. Nakita ko ang anak namin na hinaplos ang pangalan niya na nasa katawan nito. Maya-maya itinuro si Vince ng bodyguard niya.
Dali-daling tumakbo si Pauline patungo sa ama niya. Kinarga naman ito agad ni Vince . Pauline kissed him on the cheeks.

"Thank you po Mayor" sabi nito. Napakamot lang sa ulo si Vince. Bigo na naman kasi ito na marinig na tatawagin siyang papa ni Pauline.

Humagalpak naman ako ng tawa sa reaksyon niya " Akala mo madadaan mo sa suhol ang anak mo ha" kantyaw ko.

"Hindi na ako nagtataka, anak ko kasi siya kaya mahirap amuin. "He kissed her on the cheeks "Like father like daughter."

Umupo na si Vince kasama si Pauline. For the first time,hinayaan nito si Vince na kandungin siya. I looked at Vince and he got that look of a happy father.

"The jetski is mine po?" Pagtingala niya sa ama. Hinahanda ko na ang pagkain niya.

"Who's name was there?" He asked playfully. My daughter knew how to read already. She's very intelligent at her age. She was accelerated in her pre-school.

"Mine. Plus it's my favorite colors and I love it" She said happily.

"It's yours. It's your Papa's gift but we'll need to discuss the rules in using it" I interrupted them.

"Mama you are so killjoy. Can I use it today po?" She asked her father with puppy eyes.

Vince looks at Pauline with adoration " I am sorry princess you cannot use it today " He said and Pauline frowns "but if you will be a good girl and eat what mama put in your plate, we can use it today and we'll go swimming" dagdag niya.

Tiningala ulit ito ni Pauline "Are you bribing me?"

"Yes" he said with a smile

Pauline gets her plate "You're honest. I like you now a bit." She said and starts eating.

Natawa nalang kami pareho sa sinabi niya. Tiningnan ko ang mag-ama, sana talaga matanggap na ito ng buo ni Pauline.

Nagpapasalamat  ako dahil hindi pa ipinipilit ni Vince na makilala ni Pauline ang mga kamag-anak nito.

"You're not eating Mayor,open your mouth po, I'll give you food" mabilis naman itong sinunod ng ama. Natuwa naman ako sa ginawa ng anak ko. She can be sweet if she wants to.

"You are not eating Paula, you want me to spoon-feed you?" May mapanuksong sabi ni Vince.

Nginitian ko siya ng ngiting aso. "Thanks but I can manage. Hindi naman kasi ako nagpapa baby" kantyaw ko sa kanya.

"Princess, mama is jealous, why don't you feed her also?" He said smiling.

Tiningnan lang ako ng anak namin "We're not 'bati'. She did cliff diving without me. She's a traitor." Nagtatampong sabi nito.

" Yes princess, you're mama thinks that she's superman and that she can fly. What she did was bad, don't imitate it ok?

Walang hiya ginatungan pa ang tampo ng anak namin.

"But I wanna do that. If mama can do it, I can do it also. Mama also drove jetski so I can do it also." She said.

Napailing nalang ako. Our daughter imitates me a lot.

"What can you say mama?" Patuyang sabi ni Vince.

"Yulen mama had lessons before she did cliff diving.  You can do it with your papa if you want. You do lessons together and you jump together." Sabi ko taunting Vince.
