My flight just landed and I haven't seen my uncle Buck in years. I have missed him a lot.
I've never been to Tulsa, so everything is new to me especially the people.
When Buck appeared, he was wearing blue jeans, a baggy t-shirt, and a cowboy hat.
I ran to him and said, "Buck!" He turned around and said, "Dixie Cup!" Yeah, I forgot Buck calls me that.
I said, "How have you been?" He said, "I've been good, and how about you." I said, "I've been better."
He said, "Yeah it's ok, I'm sorry for your loss." I said, "Thanks."
He said, "Well, let's not just stand here and cry let's go to your new place are you excited?"
I said, "More then ever, but I'm really nervous." He said, "About?" I said, "Meeting people, new school, new friends, new start. It's a little scary."
He punched my arm a little hard and said, "Cmon kid you gotta be tough. This town is full of trash you gotta fight it out you know?"
I said, "Yeah, but you'll help me right?" He said, "Well of course I will. I'll knock any boys teeth out if I catch them staring at you."
I hugged him and said, "Thanks." He said, "Don't mention it." We walked toward his car, and off we went to my new home.
I'm very shy when it comes to people. It's hard for me to say stuff that I want to say.
I hope Buck doesn't have many friends because if he does that means I will have to meet them.
I hate how people think I'm just that quiet kid. I'm not a kid I'm seventeen years old. A mature adult.
As we came on this dusty old wooden place, Buck said, "So here we are."
Less exciting then I had hope, but it's in better shape then my old house.I lied and said, "Looks nice." He said, "Thanks." As I reached up and touched the handle to open the door to my new home, I heard Buck say, "Hey, Dally might be in there hold up a second."
I thought great just great I'm going to meet someone new on my first day here.
I followed in after Buck, and he was right someone was here.
The boy looked not much older then me.
He has an elfish face, with high cheekbones and a pointed chin, sharp animal teeth, and ears like a lynx.
His hair was almost white it was so blond.
His hair fell over his forehead in wisps and curled behind his ears and along the nape of his neck.
His eyes were blue, blazing ice, cold.
It was kind of scary in a way, but he was really cute!As soon as he noticed me, he winked at me. Ok, so at my old school I was never noticed like at all. I was the laugh of the school actually being the klutz I am.
And now, a boy I don't even know is winking at me. I couldn't help but blush a dark red.
Buck looked at the boy and said, "oh my bad, Dally this is my niece Dixie. Dixie this Dally he lives here."
Dally smiled at me and said, "Dixie, beautiful name for a beautiful girl."
Buck hit him over the head and I kind of had to laugh at this.
Buck said through gritted teeth, "Dally, why don't you take Dixie to the Curtis house and introduce her to the gang."
I started to worry. Gang? Nobody said anything about gangs! I don't like meeting people at all it scares me.
Dally just replied a simple, "Fine." Buck came over and hugged me and said, "Be safe, and if he tries anything tell me."
I nodded my head as Dally held the door open for me. I walked out turning around once more to look at Buck holding my suitcases.
All I could think about was do you think they would like me?
