I looked at Cleo.
She looked back at me and shrugged.
I giggled.
Finn exchanged looks with Harley.
Scorpio and Baby distractedly laughed of an inside joke.
Bennet and Arcadia simply stared at the boy.
"So, Rocky." I started. "What do you do?"
"I'm a musician," he told us.
All of our eyes immediately went to Cleo. That sneaky bitch got herself a musician! If I didn't know any better I'd think this was some sort of a fan fiction of her life.
"What do you play? The bass?" Asked Finn.
I held in my laughter; Cleo always had a thing for bassists.
"Uh, yes, I actually do play the bass. How did you know?" The boy asked.
All of us, except the boys, burst out laughing. Cleo blushed like a flaming red pepper, and laughed nervously with us.
Rocky smirked at Cleo, suspicious that this might mean she liked him; she ignored the look he shot her and cleared her throat.
"Guys, focus!!" She said, "I call this meeting into session."
I pressed my lips together tightly, trying to not burst out laughing again.
"Yes m'am, Mrs. Ball." Finn said, making us all laugh some more. Connor Ball, the bassist of The Vamps, was one of Cleo's bassist loves amongst her collection.
She cleared her throat again. "Harley! Please, tell us how your week went. How's Magnus?"
Harley sighed, with only a hint of a polite smile. "You know it's complicated. I'm not even sure I want to talk about it right now."
"Did something happen?" Arcadia asked.
Harley bit her lower lip.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Well, Titus and I were having lunch after a morning rehearsal. Our lunch break was what, an hour and a half? So we didn't want to go very far to make sure we made it back in time. We went to the tiny vegan restaurant right on the theatre's street."
... We were having lunch when I got a text from Magnus.
DING!
She got her phone out from her pocket.
Magnus
When is your rehearsal done? There's a party tonight, do you wanna go?Harley rolled her eyes and sighed.
"The boyfriend?" Titus asked, chuckling; rolling over his salad with his fork.
She looked at him, a little ashamed.
"Yeah." She told him. "I just don't think he takes my career very seriously."
"How so?" His tone was kind and understanding.
"Well, he just makes it sound like I'm rehearsing for a High School play or something. Plus, remember when he almost broke your nose?" She said, acting like it happened years ago.
