"You look beautiful."
As usual, I ignore he comment. "You really have to pull out that charm tonight, Baby. You have to impress my friends." I got the roses he brought for me from his hand and walked cactos the room to find a random vase.
He chuckled. "Why are you so nervous? We'll be fine."
I ran around the apartment looking for things to break just so I could fix them. I was on edge, alright. They would meet him, and Cleo would go hard on him. I was freaking out. If they didn't like him, this would be it. I wasn't about to date a boy my girls didn't like. They came first. And they knew they were powerful like that.
He grabbed my shoulders as I ran across the living room, and calmed me down. "Everest. You are the most beautiful, funny, and smart woman in the world. I respect you. I will be here for you. Everything will be alright." He said.
I stared at him, not understanding why he had said the things he did, but having an impulsive urge to rip open that shirt of his and—
My phone sang, announcing a message.
"Fuckfuckfuck." I said, reading the text from Cleo saying that she was going up the elevator. "Cleo. She's here." I looked around, breathing heavily. I looked at Baby. "Fast. Tell me something to calm me down. Like— Tell me what you are thinking about."
He smirked and put a strand of hair that rested upon my face behind my ear. "I was thinking how that lipstick color would look great on my neck." He said.
I blushed so hard my cheeks burned, but didn't smile. He smiled, though, knowing exactly how I felt with that comment.
The doorbell rang and I walked towards it. "Get your head out of the gutter, Mr. St. Lawrence." I advised. He chuckled and walked towards the door with me.
Opened the door.
"Cleo! Ivy! Welcome to the Break-Up Make-Out Party." I welcomed them, but Cleo's eyes barely went through me, being that they landed straight at Baby.
"You must be Baby." She said to him.
They shook hands. "And you must be Cleo. Everest has told me so much about you. It's a pleasure to finally meet you." He replied. I approved of his response. I guess since he worked in business a lot, I shouldn't worry about him behaving himself. This side of him was professional and charming. That calmed me down. He wasn't like those immature boys who I'd have to keep my eyes on all the time and worry about if they'd embarrass me; that's why I never really liked boys my age. I was a strong independent woman, not a babysitter. And Baby was a man... as ironic as that sounds.
"I've heard about you too. Somewhat." Cleo stated. "This is my friend, Ivy." She introduced to him. They both shook hands.
"Ivy does photography." I said to Baby, trying to be nicer to the girl.
The girl nodded. "It's nice to see you again, Everest." She told me.
I nodded.
I looked at Cleo.
I sighed."It's nice to see you too, Ivy." I answered. The doorbell rang. "I'll get it!" I shouted, almost begging to be excused from the Flamingo Girl's presence.
"Finn! Scorpio! Come on in!" I welcomed them.
As they stepped into my apartment it was as if a piano had been lifted off my shoulders. Finn and Scorpio would help me get through the night, not doubt. They were my allies.
