They sat there in silence; observing one another. They did that very often these days.
"So... you didn't even want to break up with him?" Harley asked, almost whispering like it was a secret. But it wasn't. Not anymore.
"Yes." Everest answered, "I mean no, I didn't want to do it."
"I swear to God, you're that one character we all know from books that only makes shitty decisions and we all wish we could jump inside the pages to shake her by the shoulders and yell at her," Cleo said, all in one breath.
"How did we miss this?" Arcadia asked the rest.
Everest looked at Scorpio with the eyes of a lost puppy, "I'm sorry, Scorps."
He looked at her, disappointed. "I'm sorry too."
See, Scorpio wasn't disappointed at Everest. He was disappointed at life. At the situation. At the fact that he blamed her all this time while all she did was sacrifice her happiness for his friend's greater good. He was disappointed when the thought of Finn and him being invincible suddenly became as fragile as crystal. He was disappointed, and he was reconsidering many things inside his mind.
Everest answered all of the group's questions and then kindly asked them to move on from the subject. It was all over. Everyone knew the truth, including Baby, and Baby had taken the job he needed to take. Now all that was left on Everest's never ending to-do list was talk to her boss about the interview and sort things out with Peregrin, whom her friends now also knew all about.
After so many months Everest finally felt at peace. Her friends, on the other hand...

Finn threw the house keys on the little plate designed for them near the door, and Scorpio followed right behind her, closing the apartment door. He took off his white shirt and held it with a tight grip because he knew it would make Finn mad to start a mess like his instinct told him to.
Shirtless, you could notice his Calvin Klein black underwear covering the bottom of his V line under his abdomen. Finn was used to seeing that by now, but still loved the fact that he felt comfortable around her.
Finn didn't exactly like routines. She always tried mixing things up when she could, but for some reason, routine with him, for her, was like paradise.
"I'm going to go take a shower." He announced.
"I'm next." She said, grabbing her phone and texting onto it. "Hey, you should call Baby."
He turned around to face her, "Yeah, I know. 'Was thinking about that on the way here." He looked at the distance. "I'm gonna call him right now." He reached for the telephone.
She giggled an exhausted giggle, the news had sucked all of the energy from the group. "Honey, I didn't mean right now. You can do it after your shower!"
"I just can't wait any longer," he said, waving his head.
He smiled weakly, "Tell him we all miss him."
He pressed the button to call his long distance friend and walked over to Finn to kiss her forehead while it rang,"That would just make things harder for him, my love."
Baby answered, and they spoke monosyllabically.
The good thing about hearing important phone call conversations as an adult was that Finn didn't have to sneak around to listen to them. Nobody could go to her and tell her to go to her room because she was too young to understand. She looked at Scorpio while he comforted his friend and listened to the heart-to-heart from a small distance without any fear of being discovered. It felt to her like she was part of a team. Sinn was her team. And the team felt like home.
