Chapter 2 - Invincible.

Chapter 2 –  Invincible.

“How was your first day back at school, honey?” my mum asked when I walked through door.

“Schoolish.” I replied walking right into my room. There was a knock at my door, “yes?”

“Your sister is going out with some friends tonight. You should go, maybe you could make some friends of you own.” My mum said.

“No thank you. I prefer the solitude of my room.” I sighed lying down on my bed.

“Well you are going because you are not coming home to be a moop, and ignore your family.”

“Says you.” I snapped shutting my door on her. It opened again, but this time it was Jace.

“Get ready, we are leaving in twenty minutes,” Jace said.

I pulled off my school clothes and pulled on a pair of ripped jeans and a green t – shirt. I pulled on a pair of sneakers that I haven’t worn since before boarding school. I pulled my hair back in a smooth auburn pony tail. I check myself in the mirror; I looked like my old self before I had to dress all proper like.

“Addison are you ready?”  Jace yelled from the bottom of the stairs.

“Yeah, I’m coming Jace.” I shouted back. I hurried down the stairs to find Jace dressed in a skirt and a blouse. Wonderful I’m underdressed.

I followed her to the car. “Where we going?” I asked.

“To the beach, for a bonfire.” She replied backing out of the driveway.

“Oh, awesome. I get to hang out with bunch out preps at a beach.” I replied sarcastically.

We arrived at the beach. There was a big bonfire surrounded by a circle of people. I followed Jace to the group of people; she hugged a few of them than sat down next to that Jay character. I went to sit next to her then I heard someone call, “Addi over here.” I looked up to see Nathan calling me over I went and sat reluctantly beside him.

“Can I help you?” I asked.

“No, you just looked bored I thought you might like to talk to someone you knew.” He said, pushing his hair out of his green eyes.

“Because I know you so well? Our brief conversation about my real name on art class brought us so close.” I said mockingly.

“Well of course, I know that you just got back from boarding school, that you are very sarcastic and that your sister is Jace.” He said pointing to her.

“You and everyone else at our school. All I know about you is your name is Nathan and you are extremely annoying.” I said smirking at him. He laughed musically.

“Hey, Nath are you ever going to introduce us to her, or are you going to keep the pretty girl to yourself.” Said a guy sliding into the seat beside me.

“Yes I’m sure you’re boring her to death.” Said another coming up behind me.

“You two can go away anytime you know.” Nathan said, irritated.

“I’m Tom,” said the first one, “and that’s Max.” he said pointing to the other. “What’s your name beautiful?”

“You don’t have to answer that.” Nathan whispered to me.

“I don’t have to listen to you either.” I whispered back. “Addison.” I said smiling at them.

“That’s ten bucks Nath.” Max said laughing.

“What?” I asked confused as Nathan past him a ten dollar bill.

“We bet him we could your real name quicker than he did.” Tom said standing up and walking away.”

“Jeez, had I known that I would given to them sooner.” I said to Nathan.

“Nathan, come here.” Jay called him over to where he, Tom, Max and someone else were standing.

I turned to the fire. The bright flames were blue because of the drift wood. I stared at it for a moment before I heard someone singing. I turned around to see the five guys standing in a little group, Max was singing. I turned back to the fire not really paying attention until I heard it. His voice was deep and soothing. It was melodic and made me want to cry. My head whipped around to see Nathan, vocalizing the notes. My heart dropped into my stomach. It was beautiful. I stood up and walked a little ways away from the fire and the crowd.

I sat beneath a tree in the sand. I had the feeling of butterflies flying around my stomach. I had tingling feelings running through my arm and legs. I came to the conclusion I was either star struck, sick, or… don’t even think it Addison I told myself.

“Hi there.”

“Oh bloody hell.” I yelled startled.

“Oh, God I didn’t mean to scare you. I’m Kat. I saw walk over her I wanted to make sure you weren’t high and looking for a leprechaun.” she laughed, “It was a joke.” She clarified when I looked at her funnily.

“Oh, haha.” I said half-heartedly. “I’m Addison.”

“I know. Not that I creep on you or anything, just Nathan was talking about you earlier.” She said in a rush.

“Nathan talks about me?” I asked causally.

“Well yeah, no?” she seemed confused, “Well he seemed frustrated that he couldn’t figure you out today. Not that he’s ever mentioned you before, because he didn’t know you then but,” she paused to take a breath, “you know he’s used to girls talking to him, I guess it becomes a thing when you are the cute one with the deep voice in the band. You know?”

“No,” I said raising my eyebrows at her.

“Anyways, what are you doing back here?” she asked sitting down beside me.

“I came to get some quiet.” I replied not telling her why I was really over here.

“Oh, cool but you should come back to the fire there are smores and I’m sure there is plenty more for us to chat about.” Yay. She pulled me back to the fire the boys had finished singing. I sat down next to Kat and Nathan slipped down beside me.

“Hi there.” He said.

“Hey,” I replied indifferently.

“What did you think?” he asked. I shrugged my shoulders noncommittally. “Come on you have to have an opinion. You aren’t that hollow.” He said nudging my lightly in the ribs.

“It was good. Why do you care what I think, there are hundreds of girls who would give the same answer.” I snapped.

“But you’re different.” He said looking to the fire.

“Whatever.” I got up and walked over to Jace and Jay, “I’m going home.” I told her.

“Why?” Jace said looking up at me.

“I’m tired.” I lied.

“How are you getting home? You can’t drive.” She asked.

“I’ll walk.” I replied backing away from her.

“In the dark? You might get mugged or something.” She fretted.

“I’ll be fine, I’m a big girl. Besides they try to mug me and I’ll write ass hole on their face and throw them in a rubbish bin.” I called over my shoulder.

“Be careful, and if mum asks it was your idea and I had nothing to do with it.” I gave her the thumbs up sign and left.

OKAY HOW WAS THIS CHAPTER? THE SONG THEY WERE SINGING WAS INVINCBLE IT IS ON THE SIDE. ALSO ON THE SIDE IS A PICTURE OF ADDISON.
