We walk out of the forest and back into the pack. Two warriors carry Alex's lifeless body and take him away to be prepped for burial. A crowd forms. Mother's hold their children, their eyes wide with horror as they watch their Alpha's body be taken away. Once again, The Pack of To Dásos loses both their Alphas in one fell swoop.

"Could this have been prevented..?" I ask. "Could we have saved him..?"

Jason looks down, lost in his own thoughts.

"He made you Alpha..."

"God I know!" Jason exclaims.

"Can he do that?"

"An Alpha's final demand giving with his dying breath is law." The beta walks up to us.

"I've never heard of this rule." I state.

"That's because Alpha's don't survive their wounds long enough to make a final decree." He says. "Assassins aim to kill an Alpha in one blow."

"Jason, you are going to have to announce to your pack and to the other packs that you are now Alpha and that Alexander is... gone..." I say.

"The best time to announce new information will be tonight." He says.

"Tonight?" I question. "Why tonight?"

"Once a year we have a black-tie gala. It's to make sure that the other packs know that just because we are small doesn't mean we should be forgotten." The beta began. "It's tonight. Many Alpha's from many packs attend. We discuss issues while we mingle and have fun... for once."

"Is now an appropriate time to party?" I ask. "This pack just lost both their Alphas."

"To cancel the event would leave many Alphas angry. That is something we don't want, not now. Let the people have fun... even if it's just one night." The beta responds.

The beta sighs and walks away. He agreed with Alex's final words, how Jason should now be made Alpha even though the position was his first. He respected him, and now that man he respected is gone. Even though I didn't pull back the bow and lodge the arrow in his chest, I can't help but feel that it is my fault that Alex is dead...

The crowd was long gone as many began preparing for that gala. A few were too busy grieving to care about the party. Who could blame them...

"Jason, what are you doing?" I ask as he begins to walk away. My eyes follow his movements as concern fills my body.

"I can't be here right now, Dalia. Not now..." He says.

"So what? You're going to abandon them?" I ask.

He turns to look at me with anger in his eyes, "I don't abandon my own! I just can't be here right now!"

"Jason!" I yell. "One minute you're kissing me! The next, you're breaking down and now you're calm and you say you just 'can't be here right now'?! Pick an emotion!"

"Who the hell do you think you are yelling at me, anyway..." He growls as he turns to leave.

"Alexander chose you over his own beta to step up to the plate! He picked you to lead them, but instead you're leaving them like a coward when they need you the most!" I shout.

"You've done the exact same thing, Dalia!" He shouts back. "You left your pack! You left them, because your mate didn't love you or for whatever reason! You abandoned them in the end!"
