"What..?" Roze whispered.

"I can't stay here, Roze." I stated, not looking at her.

"W-why not?"

"It's not safe, I killed someone." I looked at her. "I am putting everyone at risk by staying here."

"No one knows you did it." She said.

"The truth comes out eventually, Roze. I won't be able to hide it forever..." I spoke.

"And you won't be able to run forever, Delilah." Roze stated.

"I'm not running away! I'm just trying to prevent a deadly war from happening."

She sighed. She held her hands behind her back and stared down at the ground. It was bad enough we buried that body but with me staying around, there are higher chances of this whole situation getting out of hand.

"Where are you going to go?" Roze asked.

"I don't know..." I admitted. "I really don't know..."

"Then why would running away be the best option? You don't have a plan, you don't have a means of travel, all you have is a small idea."

I actually do have a way of getting around.." I smirk.

She narrowed her eyes at me, "Where did you get a car...?"

I smile, "Follow."

I turn and start to walk away, not checking back to see if Roze was following me or no. I know she would. We walk for a while until I stop in front of a black vehicle hidden away as best as could be.

"Ta-da!"

"You stole one of the pack cars?!"

"What? No!" I defended. "This one was kind of abandoned and broken down so I did my best with the little knowledge I had of cars and fixed it up."

"Delilah-"

"No one is looking for it, Roze," I reassured. "I know I want to get as far away from here as possible. I always knew I did... and now I have a reason."

"But you still have no place to go!" Roze exclaimed.

"That doesn't matter! I'll be gone, that is what matters."

Roze exhaled, "There really is no changing your mind is there?"

"My decision is final, Roze," I spoke. "This was a long time coming anyway..."

She gave a small chuckle, "We should get back..."

I nod. We walk away from the area and back to the rest of the pack. Everyone had gone back to work but they are all clearly distracted by what has happened.

They were all whispering with one another. There hasn't been a war between packs for such a long time. It was hard to think that peace could be broken so easily and so quickly. They were terrified... And I'm to blame...

"Delilah." Someone called.

I turn around to look at Elle, the Beta.

"Yes, Beta?"

"I would like to talk to you." She said.

I held my breath as she looked at me. She squinted her eyes and scanned my face as if she had detected my uneasiness.

"I'll make myself scarce." Roze said. She began walking back home.

"What is it?" I asked.

She looked away from me, "What do you think of this whole situation?"

"What situation..?"

"The body." She stated. "The corpse, from a member of theTo vounó pack found on our land."

"Just like Alpha Caitriona said, I really do think this whole ordeal could start a war. Stuff like this always leads to bloodshed... It always has..."

"Hmph..." She closed her eyes. "Seems like spilling blood is the only thing we know. We use war a lot more often nowadays to solve our problems... Tragic really..."

"Why did you pull me aside?" I asked. "I know it wasn't to have this conversation."

She sighed, "Alpha Conan isn't a terrible person. If you would just give him time and space he will come around."

"Ha! Are you done spilling lies? If so I am walking away." I turn away from her.

"Delilah!" She stopped me. "He needs you in his life. He's a broken man. He is in so many pieces that I can no longer keep count. A second chance is so rare... It only happens so often... He can't miss his chance, you can't miss your chance..."

I brush her off, "Are you done?"

"Delilah, listen-"

"No, you listen!" I yell. "I don't care what you have to say, it changes nothing! Conan's so-called chance is gone! He made his decision, he chose to sit in his room and cry over his dead mate."

"That is my sister you are talking about so watch your tongue before I rip it out!" Elle exclaimed.

I stop talking and take a step back.

"C-Can I go now..."

Elle clenches her fists tightly. She then folds her arms over her chest gripping her biceps. She turns her head to the side, looking away from me. Fur starts to pop up on her hands and neck. She tries to calm herself down so she won't shift.

"Yeah. You can go." She said calmly. "I'm just sorry that I wasted my time on you... I just... thought I could help..."

I walk past her slowly. I cross my arms over my chest and stop walk for a moment and sigh.

"For a small moment..." I said. "I really did believe that we could be mates... I really did... But I snapped out of it and came back to reality and to the fact that there are no happy endings."

Elle sighed, "You can't run from these kinds of things, Delilah. Eventually, the problems you are trying to hide from will find you."

"They always do..."
